Kerri Hagans racing with husband Francie this season has retained her place at the top in the Premier OB Nat flown this year from Portland. Last season she topped the East Antrim Sect C from St Malo winning the J Campbell Memorial Cup and will return to the annual Ladies Night in November to bring it back home again. The race should have been St Malo again but poor weather over the route from Friday resulted in the birds being brought back to the East Coast of England on Sunday. Liberation was at 9.00am in a SW wind on Monday 1st July and the Hagans loft timed just after tea time to record 1st Club Horseshoe, 1st Sect C & a best ever 4th Open NIPA 482/1,697 doing velocity 1127. Joe Reid from the Ballycarry & District was next best followed by S Beattie & Daughters with the best bird in Carrickfergus. These two birds were well placed as well finishing 2nd & 3rd Sect C and 6th & 9th Open NIPA.

Doagh & District 11/39 – R Wilson 1080, J McGrugan & Son 1021, B & M Gilmore 934, 815, F Simpson 561, 250, S & A Leitch 249. Race winner Robert Wilson broke Novice Status what a time to do it in the NIPA longest event. The winning bird was bred by the top National flyer Robin Duddy from Ballyclare.
Eastway HPS – M & T Griffith 1079, J Burrows 1065, D & J Campbell & Bigger 785, G McKenna 333, J Burrows 312, D & J Campbell & Bigger 300.
Glenarm & District – O O’Neill & Son 1071, K S McCloy 1033, O O’Neill & Son 757, G McWhirter 605.
Larne & District – S Burns 1057, J Brown & Son 1012, L & S O’Neill & Sons 990, J Brown & Son 926, Beggs & Hall 602, R Mills & Son 436, R & M Robinson 420, L & S O’Neill & Sons 384, J Brown & Son 255. The NIPA held the Old Bird National from Portland with 27 Larne & District members sending 82 pigeons. Winning the Old Bird Derby Cup & Isa Robinson Cup for the second year running is Sammy Burns. Sammy timed a six year old hen which is also last year’s club winner and finishes 9th Section & 35th Open NIPA this year. Larne 2 Bird Club – 1st S Burns, 2nd J Brown & Son.
