Friday 28th October was the date, Alexanders Public House was the venue for the annual prize distribution and dance for the Largymore Inv HPS. Having myself been unavailable to attend due to pressing work issues my father stepped in accompanied with my mother Rose and my daughter Jade. As many fanciers now know there are very few clubs that go to the trouble to organize a prize distribution and dinner dance not through not wanting one but mostly fears of not getting enough support a sad reflection I think on the lack of sportsmanship now running through the sport a very fast speed.

So when the Secretary Lawrence Milliken approached me to advise that it was his intention to once again this year go ahead with one for the well run Largymore. Davy Brown (President) along with Lawrence Milliken (Secretary), Adie Hughes (Chairman), Paul Allistar (Treasurer) that’s the officials but I could continue to list many more gentlemen I have met during my first young bird season racing within the above Club they are all there every week from start to finish when the work requires doing. With a membership of men like this its no wonder that Largymore is going from strength to strength and in a good financial position also.

Top prize winners this year were the ever consistent Milliken & McCartney who by all accounts went to town in the Young Bird program losing count on the amount of 1st’s and many other prizes this partnership clocked up over the season, highlights were as follows :-

With the night well and truly going well it was time for the silver-ware to be put in the car and the floor to be cleared for the dance. But before that the Club had organized a small draft of Y/Birds to be auctioned, this was to raise money for the Club to purchase Show Pens and what a success it turned out to be. The members of Largymore HPS would like to thank the following fanciers for there kind donations the East Down Combine’s D Croskery & Son, Lagan Valley’s Smyth & Adams, Section D Fancier of the Year Jeff Greenaway, Runner up Section D Fancier of the Year P & J Boal and Ligoneil’s McClurkin & Morrison.
