"Oisins First"
Best Bird in GB title at 251-450 Miles
in the RPRA
Following
the old bird programme of last season
the winner of Bird of the Year was never
in any doubt. A two year old Chequer cock
racing on widowhood won a host of titles
for his very proud owner Terence McCrudden
who races with the Coleraine & Co
Derry RPS. Racing with the NIPA Champion
Oisins First won the Surgenor Cup for
best average Talbenny (2), Bude &
Sennen Cove. He also won the Major Lewis
Cup for best average in all races from
England & Wales. When the tally was
done it was no surprise that the bird
was to win the J Moreland Memorial Trophy
for NIPA Old bird of the Year in 2004.
He took the RPRA (Irish Region) Meritorious
Award for Sect A and was the overall winner
in the NIPA recording velocity 1233. All
these awards were presented at NIPA Ladies
Night. Better was to come when Oisins
First won Best Bird in GB title at 251-450
Miles in the RPRA and brought back to
Northern Ireland the highly sought after
Preston Challenge Cup. This had been presented
in January during the BHW Show of the
Year weekend in Blackpool.
Some
of the seasons top results included.
1st
Club, 1st Sect A & 50th Open Talbenny

From Talbenny (2) 1,152/13,337 he had

week on the trot from Sennen Cove in another
hard one 1st Club, 1st Sect A & 6th
Open NIPA 1,032/8,450. In the duplicate
OB Classic he took 1st Club, 1st Sect

had indeed a season to remember and Oisins
First put together a list of results that
would be hard to equal. Thanks to Bannsider
for the pic of Oisins First.
