Chris
Peeman holding "Tomba"
Myself
holding "Dream Boy" &
"Euro Star"
a fist full of $125,000.00 dollars
between them both. |
On
visiting with Chris Peeman, I found Chris
to a very down to earth kind of guy, felt
like I was back home just hanging out with
one of the lads.
The
visit to Oak Haven Farm was an experience
in itself, a beautifully tranquil located
breeding stud set in the hart of the Texas
countryside housing some of the finest record
winning cocks in the USA.
The
quality and caliber of the birds speak for
themselves, in handling all the major key
birds at OHF they are all very different
in type and all having that something special
that makes a good bird stand right out amongst
the rest, as superior athlete, all the birds
carrying super widowhood characteristics
and temperaments.
When
you visit stud that holds within its walls
so many world and national award winning
champions, whether it is a back garden flyer
or a national breeding stud, whether you
are a rookie or the pigeon racing book of
knowledge, such a visit can put a lot of
unanswered questions to rest, a biggie among
the worlds fanciers and I hear it a lot
is.
Q.
What does a real champion bird handle like?
A.
Champions come in all shapes and sizes.
Long casted, small, apple bodied and for
all of you that believe that a deep keeled
birds and birds with dings in the keel should
be put in the bin... big mistake!!
Did
I have a favorite at OHF? No, they
were all equal in that who am I to judge
record winning and national champions, they
are all superior athletes with an edge,
personally who wouldn't be confident to
have a team of widowhood cocks bred down
from these super athletic cocks.
What
did I notice about their eyes?
I noticed, yes they all had two eyes!! I
don't believe in eye sign, never have, and
never will, it's an idiotic gesture to even
think that the eye of a bird governs how
good or bad bird performs, evetyone to their
own i guess!
Anyone
know the eye specialist of the Kentucky
Derby?
On
that note, a big thank you to Chris Peeman
for his kind hospitality in showing me and
my family around the wonderful OHF national
breeding stud.
