The East Antrim lofts with the exception of Ligoniel & Dist were competing from Mullingar at the weekend, the second week of Area Liberations. No problems next week, the NIPA will be having a mass release in Tullamore. In Mullingar the convoy of 3,500 birds were released at 10.25am in a helping Lt South Easterly wind. The top loft was M & T Griffith of the Eastway HPS recording velocity 1518 and a yard ahead of the best in Carrickfergus Hall & George of the Carrick Social. Edmund McAlule broke Novice Status in the big Larne & District, they had a massive 1,015 birds competing, some work getting that lot away. M & T Griffith have had a good couple of weeks, club winners from Navan the loft finished 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th Open NIPA. The igoniel & Dist birds were in Tullamore with Sect D, just pipped for the top honours by H Mackin & Son of the Lisburn & Dist. For Ligoniel Bingham & Seaton were 2nd & 4th, G & M Atcheson 3rd & 6th and McClurkin & McCoubery 5th.
Larne & District HPS will host the Complete Clearance Sale (Health Reasons) for Marshall & Wilson in the local clubrooms on Thursday 8th August at 8.00pm, birds on view from 7.00pm. Birds are mostly Van Loon from B McNeice & Sons from Lurgan, no paper-work due to the owner’s illness. When racing, Marshall & Wilson were a class act.

The NIPA moved on to Mullingar for the second young bird race with 40 Larne & District members sending 1015 pigeons. Winning the McLaughlin Cup and taking the top two positions is E McAuley. In a very close finish Edmund came out in top with his first pigeon a Lambrecht hen bred by Leslie Madden of  Coleraine, named Alix in memory of his late father. Second club was bred by one of Larne’s top fanciers Crawford & Robinson, fifth club is from good friends A S McNaghten and Robert Mills bloodlines.
