From the fair city,
With Kevin Barry & Tucker Daniel.
Hello folks hope you are all well.
This week the birds were at Tramore a come back race of approx 89 miles and again we had an east wind to deal with, the birds were released on Saturday at 8-45 am and a stiff race was forecast. I didnt have far to go to find the winning bird in the fed, I did predict last week that I would win it but at least I got the club right. Winning the Sarsfield and taking the first two on the fed sheet on 1330 and 1326 is the flying postman himself Frank McEnroe the two birds came together but went into different lofts and as he said it was just the nearest one to hand that he clocked, the first one into the clock is a yearling widowhood hen Parkes Bussaertt X Mardon Van Reet that scored a couple of times as a young bird and whose brother won and collected some good cards when Frank was in the Celtic club, the second bird also a widowhood hen is a bird that came into Frank last year as a youngster, he tried to get rid of the bird tossing it as far north as possible but it always came back, so when he reported her the owner P. Farrelly & Son of Belfast told him to keep her and try her on the road, try her he did and 2nd fed isnt a bad return for a little TLC with a stray, I got up to Franks place on Thursday (my day off this week ) well he picked me up and dropped me home, thats what you get when you teach the wife how to drive she fecks off with the car, but as you can see from the photos he has a really neat and tidy set up and still has 25 cocks from his team left and the same amount of hens all racing at the moment, about 80 young ones on the dark and a team of stock birds as well. The club does very well this week also taking 3rd and 4th fed with crazy Eamon Nestor in the 3rd spot on 1323 and also recording the same velocity is Tucker in 4th with his grizzle hen that won the first race. Pat Craven 5th Club 14th fed, Bren Stafford is 6th and 16th fed, just a mention for our top novice so far this year Deco Gorman & Son who finish 7th club and 26th fed, well done lads keep it up.

Had a nightmare with this article this week, I almost had it complete when the bloody computer decided to give up the ghost and turn itself off and yes you guessed it I didnt save what I was writing and had to do it all again, so if I left anything out please forgive me, also had a bit of trouble with my youngsters on Monday found them holding corn and throwing up, this happened a couple of years ago and I ended up losing 9 or 10 of them due to not acting fast enough, when I seen it this week first thing I done was to get some nystatin into the water and stop feeding them, 24 hours passed and making sure all the crops were empty I started them back on a very light diet of barley and pellets mixed with some lemon juice and medistatin from metpet, through the week I increased the amount of food , its Friday now and you would never think they had been ill at all, droppings are better than ever and didnt have to cull anything, will keep an eye on them over the next few days make sure they didnt pick up any other ailments while they were down but hopefully they will be fine. what I did learn from the last time was dont ignore it and hope it goes away because it wont and it is relatively easy to treat if you catch them early enough.
Thats it for this week folks,
Happy racing.
