From the fair city
With Kevin Barry & Tucker Daniel.

Hello folks hope you are all well.

This week the Irish South Road Federation had a double week with an inland race from Pilmore Beach and a channel race from Talbenny, both races are practically the same distance with only a couple of mile difference the inland point 2 miles longer. Obviously the terrain is vastly different the Talbenny race is almost completely over water and with a touch of north in the mainly easterly winds both races where always going to be testers.

Clondalkin R.P.C.
Well done to Darren Church & Dtr who not only win the club from Pilmore beach but also top the fed in a tight finish on 1192.8, this cock down from a pair Darrens dad Pat had a few years back, Janseen originating from Sandyhill, this is the 3rd fed topper this ace pair has produced, right behind the winner is M/M Bernard Russell & Son only half a yard back and comes in for 4th fed on 1192.3, this partnership had another in the clock for 5th, Paddy Dandy has 2 together for 3rd and 4th and Tom Dunne is in 6th.

Talbenny,
A & J McMahon are in front here on 1098, Eamon McKinney 2nd & 4th with Darren Church & Dtr showing the whole loft is in form with a pair for 3rd and 5th.

Had a call this morning from Pat Roche from the Wicklow Hills one loft race, just to remind everyone that the race is closing very soon and there are still places left up until the 11th of June.
Prize money is guaranteed at 23000 euro with 10000 for the winner of the main race from Skibbereen approx 240 km on the 31st of August, cost of entry is 100 euro per bird, you can contact Pat on 087 9443140 or by email at info@wicklowhills.net and the website is www.wicklowhills.net
The lofts are situated just behind the Beehive pub on the N11, all the clocking is done by Tauris ETS systems and Pat will present the trophies at the Dublin show on the 8th of November.
So now you know what to do with the youngsters you bred and now have no room for get them down to Pat and get them raced.

Thats it for this week folks another double race for us next week the second of four in a row, so if anyone has any valium lying around that they are not using drop it over to me at the central mental hospital Dundrum, just ask for the confused looking bloke with the feathers in the hair (they will bring it straight to me). I tell you I must be mad I have just started my latest attempt to pack in the cigarettes and just as we get into the big channel races, standing out the back when we are up the land is nerve racking enough but waiting on channel birds is a different kettle of fish altogether, There are lots of ways of giving up the dreaded fags but I wouldnt recommend the idea my old aunt had a few years back, she taught that by pouring a gallon of petrol over herself every morning it would prevent her lighting up and turning herself into a human fireball, alas it didnt work, she would be sitting in the living room and youd hear a cough and a whoosh, in fairness she was down to 20 whooshes a day by the end of it, and it did cure her facial hair problem.

I was going to try the patches but I have hairy arms and am allergic to pain so thats out, the nicotine chewing gum sounds revolting and with the amount of gum I chew it would probably increase the levels of nicotine in my system anyway, when you are a bus driver chewing gum is like part of the uniform, you need to look relaxed and in control especially when you pull out in front of an angry white van or Taxi driver, or when you see an oul one running with her shopping trolley and just as her finger tips are touching the front doors you pull away, for that split second shes thinking do I hold on to the door or hold the trolley, she always goes with the trolley , her messages are far more important to a working class Dublin woman than anything else in the world and that includes her husband and kids, whole days are revolved around when they get their messages when they come home from getting them how long they have before they can go out and get more messages I tell you its scary sometimes. Most women are completely different to men when it comes to missing a bus, a woman will hold her dignity and curse you under her breath all the way up the road, but men will hang on for dear life and be dragged 50 feet up the road before letting go picking themselves (and the bits of shoes that are left) up and telling the stunned passers by that he didnt want it anyway. I better go now before I get myself sacked.
Happy racing.
