From the fair city,
With Kevin Barry & Tucker Daniel

Welcome folks, hope you are keeping well.
The Irish South Road Fed had two races again this week, the channel race was an open from Sennen Cove approx 230 miles and the inland race was from Rosscarbury in West Cork 367 members sending 4842 birds distance to this one approx 168 miles.

Saturday morning 7th of June and unusually for these days everything was perfect for a double lib, the channel birds were away at 07-15 with the land birds not far behind at 08-00 into a north west wind.

Winning the open from Sennencove and his Finglas cub where 17 sent 210 birds is C & K Emmett & Sons on 1255.41 with a Hybrecht 3 year old hen having her third trip across the water, the parents coming from the loft of Vincent Black in Boyne Valley and obviously Spike and the gang send there thanks to Vincent for the birds, this is the lads 3rd win of the season and I bet the sweetest so far and what a close call it was because right behind him and I mean right behind him less than a decimal in fact is club mate M/M Declan Killeen on 1255.33. After five and a half hours and 230 miles of mostly Irish Sea thats all that separates these gallant birds. Declans bird is a Will Geerts 3 year old widowhood cock who has scored consistently for the loft right through the season, this loft is in terrific form this year and Deco is quick to point out that he could not do it without the help of his good lady Deirdre and their daughter Tara, its great when the family is involved because everyone is pulling in the one direction. Also a belated happy birthday to Tara who nearly celebrated it with an open win, well done folks great effort Im sure it wont be long before you all can celebrate a big win. The club had an excellent day with David Turner taking 5th open on 1250, Derek Larkin was 7th open 1247 and Kevin Delaney 20th open on 1220.
Over in the Rosscarbury race 22 sent 420 its Alan Farrell who takes the honours on 1458 he also takes 4th position on 1452, C 7 K Emmet & Sons just fail to do the double finishing 2nd only 3 yards behind on 1455 and another man flying out of his skin this week David Turner in 3rd & 5th spots on 1453/1449. M/M Deco Killeen 6th also 1449.

Open winner Spike Emmet & Son Martin

Talking about keeping it in the family, while Spike was winning the open his nephew Jimmy Emmet who flys in the Blanchardstown club was topping the fed from Rosscarbury with a blue pied Sootjan cock taking his second club win having won as a young bird, down from Frank Shearers pigeons. A & F Glennon also had a good one finishing 2nd and 10th fed on 1460.

Looking through the top 20 open positions Ballymun are well represented with pride of place going to J. McDonnell taking 3rd open on 1252, Kavenagh/Touhy/Farrell take 2nd club 10th open 1240, J. Byrne & Son are next and 12th open with Tom Nelson just outside the top 20 in 24th position. No such problems from the Rosscarbury for Tom he scoops the first 5 in the club and all on the fed sheet starting at 9th continuing down to 47th.

Good performances also from Ger Begley of the Tallaght Premier who finishes 6th open, Brown & Smith Finglas South West are 8th, M/M O Reilly from the Rialto have 2 in the result for 14th and 16th. Down in the Homing Club M/M J. Brady and M. Walsh had two each almost together, the former taking 18th & 21st and the later 19th and 22nd open, well done.

East Wall & Dist.

DUBLIN NORTH EAST with Billy Harris
8 members sent 145 birds.
The lofts of Mr & Mrs Hayden must have thought the race was over when their first arrival sat
Out for 2 minutes due to a noisy neighbour cutting his hedge, but they really didnt have to worry
Not only did they take their 4th red card of the year they made it a clean sweep taking the first 5
The winner this week is a two year old Soonjten Cheq cock racking up his 3rd win with 5th & 24th fed.
I wasnt surprised to hear that he was a grand son to Gerry McCourt top stock cock Junior.

From Sennen Cove in what turned out a good honest race who better than a good honest fancier
In Joe White to take his 6th win of the year and the 3rd on the trot off the channel.
Joe hasnt been in the best of health this year and I hope his performances give him some relief
I am sure I speak for all member of the club when I send him our best wishes.

Dun Laoirge. With Darren Felton
Well it was a bit of a mad race this one. it was out this neck of the woods anyway.
1st is Ray Matthews with a black tip hen pure Van de Weyer
2nd is Ray again with a darker cock pure van de Weyer.
Both birds came together I can prove that because I was watching out for the birds that day and I got burned to bits with the weather.
3rd & 4th club is Decer Taite
Rosscarbury.
Again its the same man Ray Matthews that cleans out the club again this week. taking the first 6.
His velocities start at 1396 and finish at 1356.
His first 5 Birds are widowhood cocks and all are Janssen/ Verheye.
The first 2 are full brothers to the open winner hen.
The cock that was 12th open Barleycove earlier in the season was the first bird in the clock.
His 6th pigeon is a Sootjan hen that kept flying into him as a young bird so the owner told him to keep it and transfer it. Just shows its not all about the pigeon if you have the right man behind them.

Celtic Inv.
Sennen Cove, Fed secretary M/M Tommy Lowery is just toying with the lads from the channel this week and takes a brilliant 1st, 2nd and 3rd with his team of Beeverdam Janseen, Sean Forde keeps up the pressure with 2 in the clock for 4th and 6th , Paul Maher splits these for 5th.

Rosscarbury.
A great result for the club in the inland race and an even better one for Paul Dunne & Son as with the top 2 in the open race this one also came down to decimals with Paul just piping M/M Mick Flynn velocities 1473.42 and 1473.38 the lads take 2nd and 3rd fed a click of the finger in it, Pauls pigeon a self bred Mardon Van Reet yearling widowhood cock taking its first win, Micks bird another yearling this time a Sootjan, Pat Craven with another Sootjan is 3rd club 7th fed and M/M Padner Byrne 4th with his extraordinary 6 year old cock in the clock every week this fella is, B.
