Birds were race marked on Saturday for a Monday liberation in Penzance, the same thing happened in 2012. The big convoy was released at 10.45am in a Lt NW wind, it turned out hard enough with the winners into Mid Antrim taking just under 8 hours. The best bird was timed by Surgenor Bros in the Kells & District at 18.13hrs recording velocity 1281 for the almost 327 miles. Next best was Billy & Joe Smyth for Ballymena & Dist in their favourite race and J Millar & Son had 1st Harryville another top loft from this race point. Danny Dixon will be well placed and Young McManus & Sons had 1st Ahoghill Flying Club. Surgenor Bros and W & J Smyth also take 1st & 2nd in Sect B and 18th & 19th Open NIPA over 9,000 birds competing. Cullybackey retained the Champions League, the first club to do so, Alan Darragh beat Jimmy Rock from Harryville in the final.
