Ladies Night 2018 -

The NIPA was founded in 1945 and it\'s membership was open to all members within Northern Ireland - We are one of the largest weekly convoying organisations in the UK. Presently we have approx. 100 clubs as members, with over 2,000 members. Birds competing each week can reach 25 to 30 thousand, depending on the race. The race programme starts in Ireland down to Rosscarbery and continues through Wales & England to Penzance, and the Premier OB Nat flown from St Malo (France).

NIPA Ladies Night – Last weekend the Templeton Hotel in Templepatrick was the venue for the annual Ladies Night, a packed house of 200 members, guests and friends travelled from across the country despite terrible weather conditions with some flooding. Chairman Ken Wilkinson from Antrim welcomed them all and congratulated the many winners. He also thanked all those who assisted during the season.

Top table guests included Chairman K Wilkinson & Eileen, Vice Chairman Pat McLaughlin, Secretary Fred Russell & Mrs Russell, President S Briggs, Ass Secretary G McEvoy, Patron S Thompson and son, Race Controller Jim Ramsey & Partner, Mr & Mrs J Beattie, Mr & Mrs Lee Wilson Shankill & Dist, Mr & Mrs Joe Flood Fortfield, and Mr & Mrs Trevor Topping & Robert INFC. Apology through illness Robert Reid RPRA (Irish Region) Secretary.

The winners list was already published, locally the list included from Kells & District Geoff Surgenor who won the seasons YB Talbenny Nat with a bird bred by clubmate Davy Jackson who himself won the 2nd Area Liberation from Mullingar. Pete Norton from England who supplied Davy with his Van Loon stock was also present for the celebrations. McConville Bros from Crumlin & District won the OB Inland Sect B Fancier of the Year plus 1st Open NIPA Fermoy, and also in Sect B for Crumlin Sefton Thompson won the YB Sect B Fancier of the Year and the Sect B Champion Young Bird. To Crown a fantastic season for Crumlin J & N Lamb has the best local bird from St Malo and won the Leslie Mairs Memorial Cup.

In the Ballymena and Mid Antrim Area Alan Darragh from Cullybackey won the Cross Channel Sect B Fancier of the Year and W & J McLean from Rasharkin had the best local bird to take 1st Sect A & 11th Open NIPA St Malo lifting the Horace Devine Memorial Cup. This award has been going since 1975 and was presented by Sect A Fanciers in memory of the late NIPA Secretary Horace Devine when the HQ was based in Ballymoney. Also in Rasharkin & Dist A C & T Tweed won the 1st Area Liberation from Mullingar. Balmer T Young & Son from Ahoghill won the RPRA Gold Cup for Single Bird Nomination from Penzance, this bird was bred from bloodlines obtained from Gerald Delaney.

Looking now at North Antrim, always now well represented since the change of race points, Windsor Social had 1st Open NIPA from Tullamore for R & J Parke, W & W Murdock from Co Derry had 1st Open NIPA from Fermoy and T Scott & Son also Windsor Soc 1st Open NIPA from Corrin, all in the old birds.
