Mid Antrim Combine - 3rd Roscrea NIPA 27/05/24.

Jamie Greer Checks Out With "Double Top"

The third Roscrea race was flown on Monday 27th May with the birds liberated at 10.15am in south westerly winds. Best bird in the local area was timed by Jimmy and Jamie Greer of Cullybackey at 12.37pm to win 1st in the Mid Antrim Combine on 1795. This was the partnership's second Combine win of the season, with both wins achieved with their new star "Double Top" a 2yo mealy cock racing on roundabout. The sire from Gary Gibson is Stickers Donckers and is a grandson of the Golden Pair, and the dam also from Gary is off the best his Van Hercks. Jamie has now retired his double Combine to the stock loft. Well done Jamie, not many double Mid Antrim Combine winners about.

Harold Cubitt the Rasharkin winner was runner up in the Combine on 1795 with a 2yo blue widowhood cock. The dam was given to Harold as a youngster by clubmates John and Mark Milliken and the sire which won four races for Harold is off a bird he purchased at a clearance sale in Chimney Corner in 2012 for a Mr Belshaw from Drumnavaddy. Paddy & William McManus had the winner in Ahoghill on 1769 with a blue yearling hen winning her first card of the season. Just like their Skibbereen winner later in the day she is bred from their top Van Den Brande family of birds.
S Crawford was best in Harryville on 1748 and Robin Service timed his first winner to his new loft in Ballykeel. Robin won Ballymena & District on 1737 with a 2yo blue hen broken in from his old home loft's in Drumtara. Sire is his good 38 Soontjen cock, a winner of 5 firsts plus 1st Section and the dam a blue pied Soontjen hen from Dave Stone of Derbyshire. She to is a 1st Section winner. Harry Boyd was the winner in Kell & District and Marcus Morrow took the red card in Broughshane.
