Irish SR Federation – 2011 Presentation in Sarsfield

The annual presentation this year was arranged for the Sarsfield RPC in Ballyfermot on Sunday 27th November in the very capable hands of President Henry Byrne. The array of the various awards were something else, and race diplomas were distributed to the many club reps in attendance. The special guest was President of the Irish Homing Union Eugene Fitzgerald who congratulated the winners and had a special mention for the Gold Medal Awards, very hard to win for birds three times in the prizes in the OB Derby from France. Kelly Newman & Sons from Ballymun won the famous Millar Gold Cup best bird in the IHU from St Malo, Grogan & Kearns from Finglas had a number of awards including the Combined Ave all ISRF Races, Ballymun had Young Fancier Michael Hanney and Novice of the Year J Redmond & Family and finally Sarsfield were Champion Club – Finglas said they have just loaned it out. The awards were also presented for the IHU Nat FC looked after by Mick O’Driscoll and fanciers enjoyed music and sandwiches in the afternoon, I headed back home before darkness. Nice meeting Mick Crean and his son Nial from Cork City for the first time, like myself he is a scribe for the BHW.
