2nd JB 5 Bird Presentation at Sarsfield

Post by willie reynolds »

J.B. 5 Bird Club Presentation 2011.

The presentation for the J.B. 5 bird club got underway in the Sarsfield R.P.C. Dublin on Sunday 6th of November.

In this only its second year it continues to thrive all over the Irish South Road Federation where its members are based, paying out a whopping 17,654 euro in pools and prize money this season alone.

Guest of honor this year was Martin Fitzpatrick from Scotland who was one of many UK visitors who had made the trip over for a weekend in Dublin and with the show having taken place the previous day there where a few delicate bodies floating around the place I can tell you.

Jimmy Roberts, Johnser and Jeff Byrne got all the trophies together and all was set to go but they were still missing the top prize winners of the year Grogan and Kearns, as it turned out the boys had a loft visit that morning from 3 Scottish lads Tom Corry, son Tom Jnr and Martin Hillie and you know yourself when pigeon men get talking, but that wasn’t the best of it Mr. Grogans dog then decided he wanted to take a tour of Finglas, somehow liberated himself from the back garden and it took the lads an hour to catch him. I wouldn’t like to be that pooch when he got home, Thomas was like a demon when they finally got to the club. To be fair I don’t think many noticed everyone was settled in and enjoying the company and the craic was getting going.

Tucker Daniel then took over the M.C. duties and after the usual banter with Mick Gilligan started the prize giving.

A full list of winners will appear at the end of this report, the average winners where as follows.

Overall combined winners and old bird Northside winners.

Grogan & Kearns. Finglas R.P.C.

What a year these lads are having top flyers in the ISRF and this the icing on the cake.

Old bird, average, Southside.

This was split down the middle by two of the top men in the fed .

Brian Brady Greenhills RPC. and Jimmy Toner Shelbourne.

Young bird average, Northside.

This was taken by Bodie & Dobson of the Cabra club again a fantastic year for this partnership.

Young bird average, Southside.

Last years overall winner and at the top again Pat Byrne & Fam, Sarsfield.

The proceedings finished with a sale of 10 select birds from the members and raised 490 euros which will help set off any overheads and keep the prize money where it has been over the last couple of years.

Jimmy Roberts then took the floor and thanked all the members for their continuing support and the Sarsfield club for the use of their facilities again this year. The club is very fortunate to have the lads both North and Southside to run the club so efficiently, Jeff Byrne, Jimmy Roberts, Tucker Daniel remember all money taken in is given straight back out in prizes. Look forward to seeing you all again next season.
