Just a quick update on the latest with the Irish Homing Union National Flying Club. The 10th agm was held in Dublin Homing Club on Saturday March 31. There were 14 members present.

The meeting was very orderly and the first part of the meeting regarding previous minutes, officers reports and the statement of accounts went along without incident. The election of officers gave rise to a discussion on whether we had enough members present to actually go ahead with the election particularly since current officers would be stepping down and a new committee would need to be elected to bring the club forward. It was agreed that in its current format, the IHUNFC would be disbanded and a caretaker committee for a new club would be elected. All the assets of the IHUNFC would be passed on to them, these being the 8 trophies (some of which are extremely valuable) and the year end balance, which amounts to almost €2300 less some outstanding small bills.

This new committee are, Chairman – Ger Furlong, Secretary – Patsy Dowling, Treasurer – Fred Malone. They will be effectively creating a new club, name yet to be decided and will organise its affiliation to the IHU and will continue on the work of the IHUNFC. They will be organising a meeting of possible members over the next couple of weeks and they are confident of having a good membership for 2012. The outgoing committee wish them all the best. I would like to thank Paul Keegan for standing in as temporary chairman at one stage and conducting the meeting in such a great way. Ken Knight.
