Farming Life - Wednesday 10/07/13

The News Letter, now in its fourth century of continuous publication, has come a long way since it first saw the light of day in 1737. On a visit to Northern Ireland, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth described the longevity of the newspaper as "an achievement in which the people of Northern Ireland can take great pride". Pigeon News is featured in the Farming Life supplement each Wednesday.

Farming Life - Wednesday 10/07/13

Post by willie reynolds »

The NIPA birds were race marked last Tuesday for the Premier Old Bird National, liberation had been planned to take place in St Malo on Friday. Weather conditions over the route were not favourable and after a three day delay the birds were returned from France to be released on Monday in Portland in the South of England. Liberation was at 9.00am in Portland in a Lt Westerly wind.

The Portland result is provisional as all measurements have not been received any claims for Bronze, Silver or Gold to be in the secretary’s hands within the next 14 days. Also any claims for the Devine Memorial Trophy for the Best 2 Bird Average.

The local Sect B lofts will be using the NIPA Transporter on Saturday 13th July for a training toss, good news for those already started. Birds will be liberated in either Banbridge or Newry and crates are £3 each, cash to be paid to the driver. Collection points are in Ballymoney at the Ballymoney Roundabout at 8.00am will service the Ballymoney/Coleraine area, Ballee Road West at Ballee in Ballymena at 9.00am, Raceview in Muckamore at 9.45am and finally Glenavy Protestant Hall on the Main Street at 10.15am.
