The birds were in Tullamore this week for the first mass liberation if the season. The North West birds are flying a distance of in and around 120 miles this week, and with brisk, west south west winds reported, it was going to be a hard one to judge. South westerly’s don’t favour the North West birds, with many coming from the back of the mountain this week. As it turned out, velocities held up very well, with the wind obviously having more south in it than was expected. In saying that, as ever, there seems to have been an early batch of arrivals, with the rest making their way home all day long. Overall, returns although slow in many cases, where actually very good.
On then to our results, and we will start this week up in Limavady. Taking top spot and winning the Section this week as well, is the very consistent John Mc Cool. John in fact takes the first three in the club, with the ever present Ronnie Witherow and Willie Mc Ilmoyle rounding out the top five. Super flying from John, with the full result looking like this, 1st, 2nd and 3rd J Mc Cool 1681, 1625, 1624, 4th R Witherow 1587, 5th and 6th W Mc Ilmoyle 1587, 7th R Mc Ilmoyle, 8th D Mc Cool.
Down in the Maiden City club this week, the Coyle Brothers continue their outstanding form, making it three out of three. A loft in that is in super form at the minute, they will be the target for everyone to try and beat going forward. Holding on to a bit of form as well, are Jimmy and Billy Knox, who take third yet again, with Tony and Seamus Morrison completing the top five. The result then looked like this, 1st, 2nd and 6th Coyle Bros 1635, 1626, 3rd J+B Knox 1555, 4th T Morrison 1543, 5th S Morrison 1520.
Up in Omagh this week, we have only two men in the result. Alan Hall gets back to winning ways again, ahead of another man in great form at the minute, Kenny Armstrong. Kenny takes the next five positions to fill the positions for this week. The final result looked like this, 1st Alan Hall 1584, 2nd,3rd 4th, 5th and 6th K Armstrong 1526, 1525, 1524, 1509and 1484.

As predicted last week, once Leo gets going, he is always going to be a hard man to beat. Toby and Martin Gallagher get closet this week in second, with Leo back in third and Noel Murray filling out the top five. The full result then for the Londonderry club looks like this, 1st, 3rd and 6th L Flanagan 1570,1537, 2nd T+M Gallagher 1550, 4th and 5th N Murray 1534,1532, 7th B Houston, 8th and 9th J Cassidy.
Over in the Derry and District this week, Danny Canning gets a very well deserved win at last, with top flyer Anthony Mc Crudden in second and third, and Sean Duffy making up the top five in fourth and fifth. The full result for the Strabane club looked like this then, 1st, 2nd and 4th E Fulton 1539,1534 and 1413,3rd and 7th N Mc Gavigan 1483, 5th,6th and 8th R Mc Ateer 1341, 9th I Moore.
