The East Antrim birds excluding Ligoniel were in Navan for the opening race of the young bird season, the Area Lib was vat 11.00am in an Easterly wind. The best local birds were timed in Doagh & Dist by J & A Wilson & Sons, taking 1st, 2nd & 3rd Open NIPA with 2,920 birds competing. M & T Griffith of the Eastway HPS had the next four places. Baxter & Holden had the best bird in Larne, the big Larne & Dist had just short of 1,000 birds competing. Best in Carrickfergus D & J Armstrong & Son had 1st Carrick Social. Ligoniel & Dist lofts dominated the Area Lib in Mullingar with Sect D, McClurkin & McCoubery had 1st Open NIPA doing velocity 1274 with 1,416 birds competing.

The NIPA got the young bird season off with an Area Lib from Navan with 37 Larne & Dist members sending 992 pigeons. Winning The J Lennon Sen Mem Cup was the partnership of Baxter & Holden who had a great race finishing 1st, 3rd & 8th against a large birdage of just under 1,000 pigeons. All three birds contain the lines of good friends Alan Rodney & Son, the winners sire & dam are both multi-prize winners for Baxter & Holden.
