The East Antrim Gazette Series has three editions - The Carrickfergus Advertiser, (established in 1883), and the Ballyclare Gazette and Larne Gazette which both commenced publication in 1994. Now out of circulation.

It was a perfect day for the final NIPA race from Rosscarbery in County Cork, liberation was at 10.00am in a Lt NW wind. Best East Antrim bird was in Eastway with the high flying D & J Campbell & Bigger recording velocity 1388 to finish 1st Sect C & a good 6th Open NIPA Rosscarbery 407/3,655 plus £450. Next best the top bird into Larne for Beggs & Hall to finish 2nd Sect C & 12th Open NIPA. They were followed by Mr & Mrs George Robinson had the top bird into Carrickfergus finishing 3rd Sect C & 21st Open NIPA.

Larne’s Top Partnership Does It Again – The NIPA finished off the season with the Young Bird Inland National from Rosscarbery, with 20 Larne & District members sending 204 pigeons. Staying at the top was Larne’s top partnership of Beggs & Hall. Adrian and Loft Manager Marie timed a Van De Brande hen to claim her second win of the season having won from the come-back Tullamore and finishes 2nd Section C 12th Open NIPA Rosscarbery. Breeding again from the formidable partnership of A & R McAuley breeding and the Beggs & Hall racing. Larne 2 Bird Club – 1st R Maxwell, 2nd R Glass. Weekly Sale Bird – 1st Beggs & Hall, 2nd R Maxwell. Young Bird Knock Out – N Ferguson & Son, Young Bird Averages- Crawford & Robinson, Best Average Talbenny & Rosscarbery and Two Bird Average Rosscarbery- D & P Harvey, Combined Inland Averages- A S McNaghten, Combined Averages and Best Average All National Races- B McCammon. Points Cup Winner – Beggs & Hall 142, Crawford & Robinson 123, A S McNaghten 96, D & P Harvey 85, R Mills & Son 64, L & S O’Neill & Sons 60.

Top spot and big result for Mr & Mrs George Robinson, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th, also winning YB National Sale Bird and the pools.

The dam is bred by P & J Boal and is Van Herk and she is the dam of 3 x 1sts prizes.

Kells & Dist HPS have another Social Evening planned to take place in the Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim on Friday 1st November, pay at the door. Prior to the main event the Kells & Dist HPS will present the prizes for the year. More details later.
At the end of the season members need to claim for the various awards, deadline is two weeks after the final race flown last weekend from Rosscarbery, that is on or before Sat 28th September, no late claims will be entertained. Bookings now being taken for tickets to the Annual Ladies Night to be held at the Templeton Hotel in Templepatrick on Friday 8th November. NIPA Secretary Fred Russell has requested that all cups and trophies are returned ASAP, and in a clean condition.
