The Ulster Federation were in Skibbereen for their 5th race of the season and their annual Skibbereen O/B Championship event . The birds were liberated on Saturday 17th May 2014 at 10 am into a light south westerly wind . Top bird this week in the fed belongs to the partnership of M Kelly & Sons of Wheatfield club vel 2043 . Top bird in the Ulster Federation Skibbereen O/B Championship event belongs to John McKitterick of Lagan Valley RPC . Johns latest winner is a lovely 2 year blue soontjen cock flown on widowhood. To say he is bred in the purple would be an understatement. He is a bred from a son and daughter of two Skibbereen National winners from the top national lofts of Hutchinson Brothers of Ashfield. John bought only the best that Davy had to offer when returning to the sport not so many years ago. These pigeons need no introduction and are winning all over the country for many other fanciers. The parents of Johns latest winner are breeding prizewinners for fun and they are responsible for no less than 4 x 2nd club prizewinners , all from Skibbereen , for John. So at the fifth attempt John struck the jackpot and with a well fancied bird pooled right through at club and championship level wins a tidy sum of £875 . Congratulations John on your latest Ulster Fed Championship win . Runners up , only .3 of a yard behind, and from the same club, is another loft in tip top form Robert & Ashley Gore .
