What a final race, we took and made the right decision to liberate our birds from Falaise in France yesterday, the biggest organisation in the UK held over so you can imagine the pressure we was under, but I did my homework, Steve Appelby who for me is the most genuine guy you can have for up to date weather information, also Nigel Legg from Guernsey was spot on, the coast guard at Caen port was also spot on so a great effort was made by us and these people to get things right, the down side was we did not liberate until 10.10am, but from just 177 birds we had 24 home on the night, the winning pigeon came like a rocket, it was bred by the One Loft specialists from Northern Ireland The Cookstown Sizzlers, the same pigeon was second at Hot Spot 1 so it is something special, next we had 2 birds together, these were for Phoenix Parade Syndicate & Over The Hill Gang.
The first bird home this morning was one bred by Jos Reilly ( Team Ireland ) this bird clocked at 5.54am in the dark, it had also been hit by a hawk and had a hole in its side, the birds have continued to come in all day with many early this morning, so if we had managed an 8.00am liberation then there is no doubt we would have had many more home on the day, we now have some 90 home from the 177 which is absolutely brilliant and shows the quality of birds sent to us and the top class loft management, we must remember Falaise is a difficult place to get birds out of especially with our loft position, the birds also had a head wind, many were saying there would be no day birds, but I knew how fit these birds were, I will post an up to date result at approx 8.00pm, also the Ace Pigeon Result which was won by S.Bellamy & Son well done to everyone, our first year and what a success story, the cream always comes to the top…………..

FALAISE UPDATE………… The birds were liberated at 10.10am in beautiful sunshine and a Light East Wind they cleared in under 1 minute, the forecast is 5 to 6 mile visibility in the channel, there is a little coast mist at the Caen area but this was forecast to clear by 10.30am I did speak with the coast guard in Caen Port, in Guernsey they have over 12 mile visibility and have liberated, we wish all the best of luck.

The birds again flew very well, I have handled every pigeon and the 177 on the basket list are fit to go to the final, there is no doubting this is the One Loft Race which everyone is talking about, we have the best from the UK,Ireland & Belgium entered, the Prize Money exceeds any other One Loft Race for the amount of birds entered, you did you job sending super pigeons, we have done ours getting them to the final and preparing and ensuring they are in peak condition, all we need now is a bit of luck and God willing the birds will do the rest.

Well we decided against having a trainer, Annette words were why take unnecessary chances, if a hawk hits them then you will kick yourself, you know they are fit enough, they flew 328 miles in 4 days only just over a week ago, so as always I listened to her. Again to-day they exercised very well and are eating up superb, we are feeding a mixture based on Natural Professional plus bits I am adding myself the feed is based upon 70% carbohydrates and fats with a little Plumme Plus Oil added, more pools again to-day the Pot now stands at £2,409.00 ALL PAID OUT, the Marquee is up this has not effected the birds at all, so it all systems go, come along and enjoy a great day.

Hi, not long now for the big one, birds are flying superb, Rose & Ray Lander came over and bought their pools to-day, both have been in pigeons for many years, they commented on the superb condition of the birds, in Rose & Ray you have two very hard working fanciers who are totally dedicated to their federation and our sport, well the birds flew 1 hour 15 mins this morning and 1 hour 30 mins tonight, both times it was myself who fetched them down, we may possibly have a 30 mile trainer tomorrow just to break things up, on Sunday the birds will need all their energy and it will take shear guts because all the elements are against them, at the moment they will face a 15mph North East WindCry………… but these pigeon's are fit and of absolute quality.
The pools are coming in well with some £2,277.00 in the pot REMEMBER ALL POOL MONIES WILL BE PAID OUT WE KEEP NOTHING. Tickets for the final are also going well so all in all it looks as though it will be a great day, the Marquee is going up tomorrow, the birds will have 4 days to get used to it, but it is away from the loft anyway.
