Farming Life - Wednesday 06/05/15

The News Letter, now in its fourth century of continuous publication, has come a long way since it first saw the light of day in 1737. On a visit to Northern Ireland, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth described the longevity of the newspaper as "an achievement in which the people of Northern Ireland can take great pride". Pigeon News is featured in the Farming Life supplement each Wednesday.

Farming Life - Wednesday 06/05/15

Post by willie reynolds »

Due to the weekend Bank Holiday weather report the NIPA brought forward the third old bird race having birds race marked on Thursday and released at 12 Noon on Friday 2 nd May in Roscrea with a Lt Easterly wind. 15 year old Troy Booth who races with Mourne & District in the Strabane area has topped the Mighty NIPA from Roscrea with 26,000 birds competing recording velocity 1478. Young Troy reported the pigeon was raced on the natural system last year as a young bird. He received around 25 training tosses and got one race. I then paired him up at the start of this year and then split him and raced him on the roundabout system. He came well out of the first two races from Tullamore before winning the third race. The yearling Cheq Pied cock is Van Wildermeerch crossed with a direct daughter of Chris Gordon's Kings Cup winner, both birds were bought for stock.

Next week’s race is due to be flown from Corrin Code 6029 this new race-point is just south of Fermoy and we are liberating there as we are unable to access the Irish Army camp at Fermoy on this occasion as the range is being used for training purposes on that particular weekend . Would all clubs ensure that they have measurements for this race-point and also ensure that they have measurements for the new Bude Code 6028 and also Portlaoise Code 6030.

Don’t forget to place your club result on http://www.pigeonnetwork.com and a photo of all 1st Sect winners would be required for press release. There is a Result Board for most clubs in Ireland, except a handful of new ones, most have also a photo feature of one photo placed per result, and a bit of detail or short report. Any queries contact Homer.
