2009 Young Bird Sale
Our annual young bird sale took place on Sunday 11th May at our usual venue in Newbridrge Bowling Club.
We were very pleased to see a crowd of around 100 attending on the night with a few phone enquiries also to be dealt with, Auctioneer Jim O’Hara got lot 1 under way at 7pm prompt.
Bidding was slow to start with and prices down from previous years, which is understandable due to the current financial climate, but we are delighted to report that we had a very successful sale.
Following the main auction we had two extra youngsters for sale donated by John Ellis and Pete Patrick with the proceeds going towards the extreme long distance race from Saintes.
The fanciers who attended and the people who purchased pigeons were quick to comment on the excellent quality of the youngsters for sale, which is not surprising when you consider the birds are bred by some of the best distance fanciers in the country.
Chairman George Wilson would like to sincerely thank Jim O’Hara for auctioning the birds and all who donated and bought pigeons at this sale and for their continued support and goodwill towards the club
One familiar face missing on the night was that of our very hard working secretary Jessie Keir, Jessie has been unwell lately and we would like to take this opportunity to wish her a speedy recovery and hope she is back at the helm soon.
Long Distance Champion Awards
