Mid Antrim Update -

Reid Bros & McCloy from Cullybackey had the big early bird in the second Area Liberation last Saturday, birds were released in Tullamore, County Offaly at 10.00am in perfect conditions. Harry McCloy timed his Cheq hen at 12.29hrs flying almost 127 miles to record velocity 1493 winning the club by 6 minutes and also 2 nd and 3 rd. The Cullybackey team take 1 st in the Mid Antrim Combine with 2,590 birds competing followed by two birds for Scott & Clements topping Broughshane & Dist for the second week, Stewart Bros with the top two in Randalstown, A & N Young best in Ahoghill, J & D Surgenor 1 st Rasharkin & Dist and the well trained Lexi Mullan winning Harryville for the second week.

Perfect 10 for Thompson Brothers –

At the weekend the NIPA birds were in Tullamore for the second Area Liberation, birds were released at 10.00am in a West NW wind. Conditions over the route were good and birds made light work of the journey to home lofts. None better than Thompson Bros of Crumlin & Dist who filled all 10 positions in the local club and had the best 2 birds in the NIPA Sect B timing at 12.11hrs to record velocity 1518 for the113 miles.

The second race of the young bird season was flown on Saturday from Tullamore in County Offaly, it was the last Area Liberation from next week the whole of the NIPA is released together. The best bird in the local area was timed by J & D Surgenor in Rasharkin & District at 12.31hrs flying 124 miles for velocity 1454. They were on the same yard as T & J McDonald of Coleraine Premier, this loft had the top six places in the Coleraine Triangle.
