The 6 th race of the young bird season for the NIPA was from Fermoy in County Cork, liberation was at 9.00am. J & M Milliken who have been racing very well to date top the NIPA Open recording velocity 1612, almost 22,000 birds competing. Next week we have the YB Nat from Talbenny in South Wales and a Comeback race from Roscrea.

This outstanding pigeon aptly named \"Blue Boy\" won the Hall of Fame this year in the INFC which is a very difficult diploma to win. This small team partnership don\'t spend huge sums of money trying to get this type of pigeon instead they prefer to use mostly local bloodlines from the likes of Tom Bell and club mates Roy Bothwell, Brian & Mark Carson, and the late great Maurice Wilkinson. Indeed the partnership had only one entry in the INFC Friendship National one week later and clocked in the result again. I don\'t think we have heard the last from this Grand-father Grand-daughter partnership, indeed they have a big decision to make next year whether or not to go for \"GOLD\".

Locally the result was dominated by lofts in the Rasharkin Area and what a result it was for J & M Milliken who had The Card of The Day with their winner recording velocity 1612ypm to top MAC, 1 st Sect B & 1 st Open NIPA 743/21,871. The bird was a Lambrecht bred by club-mates W & J McLean. This same family has been doing the business for Steele & McNeill of Rasharkin & District. Next best were Stewart Bros from Randalstown (1572), both these lofts are having a very good season with the young birds.

Money for Talbenny YB National will be lifted on Wednesday 26th Aug in Cullybackey clubroom between 20.30hrs to 21.30hrs. Birds will be race marked Thursday 27th Aug from 15.30hrs to 18.00hrs, clocks ready after lorry leaves Cullybackey.

The race on Saturday from Fermoy in County Cork was the 6 th of the young bird season, birds were released at 9.00am. The best bird in the local area was timed in Crumlin & District by McConville Bros recording velocity 1578 finishing 7 th Sect B and 51 st Open NIPA. Stewart Bros from Randalstown had the best bird in Mid Antrim Combine finishing 7 th on velocity 1572. Ken Wilkinson had a good card with the top five places in New Antrim while J Millar & Son had 1 st Kells & District.

Leslie Madden from the Coleraine Premier takes first club from over 500 birds and first Section A for the second time in this young bird program and 3rd Open NIPA. The winner is a Chequer white flight cock raced to the perch and is the cream of his famous Lambrecht family on the sire side crossed with his new top secret line. The dam side is from his good friend Derek Parr. Leslie has now won a staggering 5 x 1 st prizes in young birds in the Coleraine Premier.
