Mallow (2) - Open & Section Results

The East Down Combine was formed in 1967 and caters for pigeons fanciers within the County of Down in Northern Ireland. There are currently 22 clubs with approx 200 members sending a birdage of up to 5,000 pigeons each week. The Combine is currently spilt into 2 Section with a line running North to South creating an East to West Section. The membership currently race for 40 Open positions and 20 Section positions on a weekly basis. The Combine is affiliated to The Irish Homing Union Regulating and Promoting the Sport of Pigeon Racing in Ireland since 1895. East Down Combine Club Results Mallow (2)

Annalong HPS 15/226 – 1st K Rooney & Son 1437, 2nd G Maginn 1358, 3rd K Rooney & Son 1349, 4th J Newell 1348, 5th Donnelly Bros 1343, 6th B Tremlett 1334, 7th K Rooney & Son 1329, 8th S Ferguson & Son 1328, 9th K Rooney & Son 1303, 10th B McConnell 1302. Well done to Kevin & Kristopher Rooney who top the Club with a very good arrival into Annalong and one that might very well top the East Down Combine from Mallow. Gareth Maginn takes 2nd club having previously topped the club finishing 3rd in the south Down Federation from Mallow the first time around on the 9th of May. The Rooney boys finish 3rd club this week with Jim Newell completing the top four.

Sean & Daughter Jennifer have the top bird into Tyrella from Mallow ahead of Sean Halpin & Sons who take the next three to complete the top four in the Club. This is Sean & Jennifer’s first Red Card of 2009 having been coming close over the last number of weeks.

Annsborough HPS 16/472 – 1st M Croskery 1426, 2nd D Croskery & Son 1408, 3rd D Croskery & Son 1386, 4th M Croskery 1377, 5th M Croskery 1374, 6th M Croskery 1370, 7th M Croskery 1366, 8th M Croskery 1365, 9th D Croskery & Son 1360, 10th Michael Jennings 1358. Mickey Croskery is starting to hit form ahead of the Channel events which he loves best, the first two positions are reversed from Mallow on this occasion with the D Croskery & Son partnership coming out in runner-up spot on this occasion having previously topped the Club and the South Down Fed from Mallow at the start of May. Dolen Croskery is next best in 3rd place with Mickey completing the top four.

Gordon Bros & Sons have a super result this week into Cloughey taking the top three positions in the club ahead of the Shaw & Edgar partnership who complete the top four.

Killyleagh Central 13/182 – 1st S McLoughlin 1416, 2nd McComb Bros 1386, 3rd McComb Bros 1366, 4th S McLoughlin 1364, 5th S McLoughlin 1362, 6th S McLoughlin 1356, 7th S McLoughlin 1356, 8th S McLoughlin 1355, 9th S McLoughlin 1352, 10th S McLoughlin 1349. Sidney McLoughlin is the man leading the field this week into the Killyleagh Central result, and what a card with eight of the first ten positions. The ever consistent McComb Bros put a couple of good arrivals into the top ten to finish 2nd & 3rd Club. Well done to both parties.

Top three into the Newtownreda Club are as it was in the first race of the O/Bird season in 2009 from Mullingar. Brian Hogg & Sons coming out in front of the Johnston partnership with Tom & David Marshall in third place with Brian & Sons completing the top four this week.

The McGreevey loft pulls clear this week from Mallow ahead of Paul McCartan & Darren Woodside in runner-up spot with the consistent partnership of McGiverns & Adairs in third place with Paul & Darren completing the top four.

Jim Gillespie & Sons enjoyed a super race from Mallow (2) with the East Down Combine on Saturday taking the first three in the Club ahead of Stephen & Pearl Logan who complete the top four. Super racing Jim.

Hillfoot HPS 7/161 – 1st J Scates & Sons 1390, 2nd H Flynn 1365, 3rd J Scates & Sons 1345, 4th D Flynn 1336, 5th D Flynn 1324, 6th D & T Brennan 1321, 7th H Flynn 1310, 8th J Scates & Sons 1306, 9th H Flynn 1303, 10th T Farlow 1239. The Scates loft had a good winner into Hillfoot Club and full credit to Conan who has them working well. This is the third red card of the season for the Scates loft who are ahead this week of Hugh Flynn who is chasing his third red card of 2009. The Scates loft timed another good arrival to take third spot ahead of Davy Flynn to complete the top four.

Dundrum HPS 7/164 – B Chambers 1385, 2nd A McNamara & Partners 1369, 3rd B Chambers 1369, 4th A McNamara & Partners 1353, 5th J Maguire & Partners 1351, 6th B Chambers 1342, 7th J Maguire & Partners 1337, 8th A Murray & Son 1330, 9th B Chambers 1325, 10th S Foster & Connor 1314. The top four is split between a couple of loft s this week namely the Chambers and McNamara operations with the Chambers set-up recording their first success of 2009 from Mallow (2), excellent performance for both lofts with 164 pigeons competing, Dundrum is not the easiest of areas to fly pigeons to, well done to all the competing members.

Ballylesson HPS 14/243 – 1st F Keery 1383, 2nd J Patterson 1380, 3rd K & B McConaghie 1375, 4th J Patterson 1359, 5th J Patterson 1353, 6th F Kerry 1343, 7th J Patterson 1342, 8th F Keery 1333, 9th C & D Smyth & Son 1321, 10th C & D Smyth & Son 1319. Fleming Kerry has been knocking very hard on the door over recent weeks and finally gets his reward from Mallow ahead of last weeks Open winner the ever present and consistent John Patterson who also finishes 4th Club, the husband & wife team of Ken & Betty McConaghie who have already enjoyed success this season complete the top four finishing in third place.

Downpatrick – 1st P Lue & Son 1379, 2nd P Lue & Son 1374, 3rd P Lue & Son 1373, T Smith 1343. Well done to Paddy on a terrific first three into Downpatrick.

Killyleagh & District – 1st J & P Rice 1359, 2nd T & C Kilpatrick 1347, 3rd J & P Rice 1318, 4th J Morrison & Son 1302.

Drumaness Mills HPS – 1st J Kirk & Son 1348, 2nd J Kirk & Son 1336, 3rd P Burns 1330, 4th G Morrison & Daughters 1323, 5th C Lavery 1320, 6th C Lavery 1309, 7th J Kirk & Son 1307, 8th C Lavery 1302, 9th P Burns 1301, 10th C Lavery 1298. The Kirk boys score a 1, 2 this week from Mallow with Paddy Burns in third place ahead of Gavin Morrison & Daughter who complete the top four congratulation to Gavin who topped the club last week from the Joe Ringland Skibbereen Classic event. Back to this week and a top result for John Kirk & Son winning the partnership their second Red Card of 2009 to date, first pigeon timed was a Cheq Pied Hen breeding is Van De Weyer/Herman from Dave Stone of Derbyshire and the second arrival is one of a few successful ones coming down from birds purchased from Rab Mills and Trevor Ford. Must also mention John’s daughter Jodie who is very keen in the pigeons.
