The penultimate race of the NIPA season was flown from Fermoy in County Cork, liberation was delayed until 11.00am and it turned out the most difficult race to date. The annual 5 Bird Championship was flown in duplicate. Final race this weekend is the Rosscarbery Inland National.

Best bird in Ballymena last weekend from Fermoy was timed by McFall & McManus, their Blue hen was timed at 3.56pm flying 199 miles to the main Antrim Road. Alan Darragh had 1st Cullybackey (1176) and Scott & Clements were 1st in Broughshane & District 1164). For the NIPA it was the hardest young bird race of the year, birds had been released in Fermoy at 11.00am in a Lt Northerly wind.

Money for Rosscarbrrry Nat will be lifted on Wednesday 9th September 8.30 to 9.30pm, birds race marked Friday 11th September 3.30 to 6.00pm. Clocks will be ready after lorry leaves Cullybackey clubrooms.

Danny Dixon tops Combine & Section –

Danny Dixon from Dunloy has topped the Combine & Section B in both weekend races from Fermoy, in the ordinary race he enjoyed getting three birds together for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sect doing velocity 1209. The loft was best in the Coleraine Centre in the 5 Bird Championship which was duplicated in Fermoy and adding that to the mid-week YB Grand Nat from Penzance that’s 3 x 1st MAC in a week. Best in Coleraine was the T & J McDonald team from the Coleraine Premier, the top two places with the winner doing velocity 1182. The members of Coleraine Premier would like to congratulate Trevor and Jennifer McDonald on a marvellous first and second club in what has been the hardest young bird race to date in the NIPA. They timed a pair of Sticker -Donker nest mates to claim top two in the club and also take home over £150 between pools and the DTW. Trevor and Jennifer would like to thank A & R McAuley for the parents of these two birds. There first bird also wins the Fermoy 5 Bird Championship race.
