The 5 Bird Championship was won by Larkin Bros of Portadown & Drumcree recording velocity 1390. The Chequer cock is bred off a Luis Thijs cock from Stuart Wilcox in Blackpool 2015 when paired to a Maurice Scheers hen, also purchased in Blackpool off Adam Fagg, Cheq cock won 1st Club, 1st Section E & 1st Open in the NIPA 5 Bird Championship race from Fermoy. He beat his loft mate who was going for his 4th 1st prize who is a Formula One Leo Hermans x with a SVR hen from Billy Higgins, of Annalong. Cheq w/f cock was 2nd Club, 5th Section E & 21st Open. This cock is the same way bred as the young bird that the loft put into the recent sale for Sean McGrotty, which completed last night on Pigeon Chat, a big thank you to JT and all who donated. The old bird 5 Bird Championship race was flown from Fermoy on Saturday 28th May, just over 2,000 NIPA birds were released at the later time of 13.00hrs in a Light Easterly wind. The wait for the route to clear of mist and the sun coming out proved to be a good success. The big early arrival locally was in Ahoghill for Paddy McManus timing his 3 year old Cheq w/f cock at 17.15hrs recording velocity 1371 for the 199 miles to The Croft Lofts in Ahoghill. This super racer has now won 9 x 1sts in Ahoghill with three of those in Rosscarbery, a real King of Cork. He was driving the hen his favourite condition a breeding is Van de Wegan and the best of Louis Thijs. Paddy was best in Cullybackey Centre by several minutes, 1st MAC, 1st Sect B and a good 5th Open NIPA.
