Ballymena lofts best from Tullamore -
Last Saturday the NIPA released in Tullamore, County Offaly the first mass liberation following two races of Area Libs. Liberation was at 10.30am in a Lt North West wind, top winners were timed just short of 2 hours, 30 minutes. Ballymena & Dist HPS had the best local birds Willie Reynolds in Ballykeel and Bertie Blair in Chichester Park both timed at 12.58pm both lofts flying 126 miles. The winner for Willie was a Blue hen that was the first bird in the opening Mullingar event, from a Dikie Smyth Vandenabeele that was 19th in the Galway Plate which was won by Cool Lass when paired to a Joop Koch hen from Eddie Wright purchased at a sale in Newtownbreda. Nigel McCormick is the loft manager, well done to him for all the hard work and a good birthday present. Bertie Blair timed the same bird as the week previous which won 1st Open NIPA from Mullingar 114/3357.

Crumlin Lofts top Section B from Tullamore –
At the weekend the NIPA birds were racing from Tullamore in County Offaly, it was the third race of the young bird season and a mass liberation following the usual two Area Libs from Mullingar. It turned out a day for the top lofts in Crumlin & District with ace flyers Thompson Bros 1st & 2nd Sect B followed by three arrivals for Fleming Bros. Just short of 3,500 birds were competing and the winner was doing velocity 1543ypm. Brian Swann & Son had 1st Kells & Dist (1471) followed by J Millar & Son who won the Sizzlers 2 Bird Club, Stewart Bros, Stewart Bros take 1st Randalstown HPS (1476) for two wins on the trot and Charlie McManus goes one better winning all three races in the New Antrim Amalgamated, his winner was doing velocity 1461. Tom Fleming had 1st & 2nd in Muckamore, winner doing 1494 timed at 12.49pm flying 118 miles.

North West Review –
Local birds at the weekend were in Tullamore, the first mass release following two weeks of Area Liberations. Best bird locally was timed in Rasharkin & District by Steele & McNeill recording velocity 1458 followed by William McFetridge. Danny Dixon had the best birds in Ballymoney he had a ball of early birds flying around his lofts in Dunloy and with just two prizes allowed took 1st & 2nd. J McDowell & Sons had 1st Ballymoney West Combine and D & H Stuart were best in Dervock. The big early arrival in Coleraine was timed by Terence McCrudden of the Co Derry (1412) best in Coleraine Triangle followed by the partnership of T & J McDonald who had the top two birds in the Coleraine Premier.

Top young bird loft of 2015 T & J McDonald win the mass liberation from Tullamore with a super 1st and 2nd Club and also win the club pools of £48 for good measure.
What makes this an even better result is the partnership are the longest flying loft in our club so as Trevor McDonald said, wind did not dictate the outcome of the result today. The winning pigeon is a cracking Black hen and was in perfect condition with pure pink skin and blood spot bang in the keel.They had them in really good shape.
The winning line is Cooreman on sire side while the dam is the actual nest mate to Beggs & Halls (Larne) NIPA 1st Open winner.Trevor was telling me tonight he was happy with the way they come as they are very lightly trained this year because he was bed bound with a bad back and is only just getting them right. I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'d say there will be more to come from the 2015 YB Club Champions. Well done again.
