Hotspot One Report and Congratulations
1st August 2016 11:02 pm | By: NCC AUTHOR - Adrian

We would like to congratulate our first hotspot winner 2016 , Gregory Bros & Leonard and well done to our other prizewinners .
Hotspot 1 was not as we expected with a lot of the youngsters making hard work of it . The birds on release cleared immediately and headed in the direction of home . They were slightly slower by 10 mins of our ETA and within ten minutes of the first arrivals we had about 1/4 entries home and 1 hour after the first arrivals only 1/2 had turned up . Thankfully the youngsters continued to make home right up to dark and we had further ones making home today . Unfortunately we are still 31 adrift . We dont know what happened and have had no evidence of a hawk strike but hopefully the youngsters will have gained some valuable experience from this . The birds were out today bathing and exercising as they wished and most were showing no signs of tiredness . They will be closely monitored tomorrow any showing signs of fatigue will not be entered in Hotspot 2 on Wednesday ( weather permitting ) .

Hotspot 2 Monaghan Report
4th August 2016 11:27 pm | By: NCC AUTHOR - Adrian
The youngsters were liberated in a strong NW wind and on release they circled twice and headed north for home . Conditions at release were perfect as was the whole route back to the lofts . Today again the first birds arrived 15 minutes slower than we had anticipated and Sean and Willie had another long anxious day waiting on the youngsters to make their way home ,which they continued to do up to dark . We are at present still 55 adrift but expect more arrivals tomorrow . Sean is perplexed to know why they are making such hard work of it and can only conclude that birds of prey are playing their part as the youngsters themselves are in excellent health and condition .

Hotspot 3 Mullingar
6th August 2016 1:37 pm | By: NCC AUTHOR - Adrian
Sean has decided to cancel tomorrows hotspot from Mullingar . The reasons being twofold, in that the forecast is dodgy ,with fresh to strong south westerlies and it will give the birds more time to recover from their exertions . Sean hopes to have Hotspot 3 on monday or tuesday . We will update site when decision is made .

Hotspot 3 report and congratulations
10th August 2016 8:44 am | By: NCC AUTHOR - Adrian

Winners of hotspot 3 was the syndicate of Maggies Dream Team , headed by the Small sisters – Margaret & Marlene. T he winning bird was purchased at a charity sale earlier in the season , gifted by top racing partnership of R & R Kemp ,Kingswood . Head of the partnership , the late Bobby Kemp , promised the girls something special and true to his word he bred Bobbies Dream their hotspot 3 winner . No doubt Bobby is looking down and keeping an eye on their latest top performer . Margaret & Marlene would like to thank all concerned in the breeding Bobbies Dream . Congratulations to the girls and also to our other prize winners .

Yesterday the youngsters in Hotspot 3 seemed to have finally straightened themselves out and made a better job of it . The first ones ,a batch of about 15 , spotted by the keen eyes of Karl Murphy arrived racing up the field and as they made the traps another batch appeared . The youngsters continued to arrive steadily and within 30 mins we had approximately 2/3 rds of our entry home . They continued to make their home all day long and unfortunately we are still missing 33 which hopefully will home tomorrow .

The weather forecast for Sunday looks very promising and Hotspot 4 should go ahead .
