Jimmy Rock tops Sect B for Harryville -
After the difficult race last week the NIPA put back the remainder of their young bird programme and for this week inserted an inland race from Gowran Park in Kilkenny. By all accounts a good quick race for the winners and most bird home, 12,200 birds were competing from just short of 500 members. Best bird locally was timed by Jimmy Rock in Harryville flying just over 3 hours for the 158 miles to record velocity 1533 and 1st Sect B. The young Blue cock was bred from a cock on loan from Alan Darragh mated with one of his Jacob birds from Oroory Hill Stud which have won through to France. The Dickey Family had another top result in Randalstown just pipped by W & J McLean for the MAC. Danny Dixon had all the early birds in Ballymoney and Alan Darragh the top four arrivals in Cullybackey. Bertie Blair wins Ballymena & Dist for the second week with the same Black Pied cock bred by Steele & McNeill the best of their Lambrecht family that have bred many winner for themselves and others. The local fancy were saddened to learn of the passing of Lorna, wife of Leonard Davidson Cullybackey and the former Secretary in Rasharkin & Dist. She had been in ill health for many years and was cared for at home. Sincere condolences to the big pigeon related family circle at this sad time.
Cullybackey Centre details – Club monies for the Talbenny Nat will be lifted on Wednesday 1st September at Cullybackey HPS Clubrooms between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. Race marking at Cullybackey will be on Thursday 2nd September between 3.30pm and 6.00pm and all ETS systems must be cleared of all races. T3 Clocks will be ready after lorry leaves Cullybackey Centre.

After the difficult race last week from Fermoy the NIPA put back the remainder of the young bird programme by one week and this weekend inserted a race from Gowran Park in Kilkenny. Birds were released at 10.45am in a helping light southerly wind. Danny Dixon from Dunloy had the early birds and had the Top 10 birds into Ballymoney. Terence McCrudden from Coleraine & County Derry doing velocity 1496 was best in the Coleraine Triangle, T & J McDonald had 1st Coleraine Premier (1492) and R & J Parke had 1st Windsor Social (1476).

Windsor Social loft wins 1st Sect B – Madden best in Coleraine
Best bird locally from Fermoy was timed in Bushmills by Trevor Scott & Son at 18.24hrs flying 219 miles in 4 hours and 24 minutes. The longest flying members in Sect B timed a Mealy cock the very best of near neighbours A & R McAuley Sticker Donkers. He was the first bird to the loft the week previous from Gowran Park. Well done Trevor and Logan, great result into Bushmills. Secretary J L Madden wins his first young bird race of the season in the Coleraine Premier, recording velocity 1470 for best in the Coleraine Triangle.
