Post by willie reynolds »

Cullybackey Open Show – The Cullybackey clubrooms at Fenaghy Road was the venue for the annual Open Show last Saturday, over 260 birds were penned by lofts across the country including the best in Mid Antrim from the judges who had travelled from the Lisburn Area. The long distane team were invited to judge at the club which has a tradition for the distance events scoring many top results including winning the Blue Riband Kings Cup on two occasions through Alan Darragh and Jimmy Greer. INFC Show Manager Sammy Briggs brought with him Garry Benson and John Catherwood and they need no introduction. Best in Show was T & K Mawhinney from Donacloney 1st in OB Handled, their lovely Blue Cheq hen has now won 22 x 1sts and that including Blackpool and Dublin. The same loft lifted Most Points in Show and Darren Swann from Ballymena & District was Best Opposite Sex. The local club members done very well with Paul Cochrane 1st in Old Bird Eye-sign, N & S Anderson 1st in OB Through Wires, and then in the Young Birds J & J Greer had 1st in both Handled and Eye-sign. D & R Turkington from Ballyclare & Dist had 1st in YB Through Wires. Another very successful show, well supported and thanks to all involved not forgetting the dedicated work of Chairman Neil Anderson and Secretary. Neil thanked all those who attended, the winners, and all those who supplied prizes including the sponsors through the year for both racing and the shows. Frazer Animal Feeds, Bridge Garage, Brian Herbison and Pennybridge Accounting. Two birds were lifted by mistake, please check your loft for Cheq hen GB14D-08621 and Blue cock GB14C-00081.
