The first big race of the old bird season was the Rosscarbery Inland National, due to be flown last Saturday it was delayed for one day due to weather problems, with the convoy liberated in Co Cork on Sunday at 7.45am in a helping South West wind. Overall winner was Owen Markey from the Ballyholland HPS in Newry. A lot of the results will not meet the publication deadlines but the full reports and results are listed as usual at http://www.pigeonnetwork.com

With unfavourable weather forecast for Saturday the NIPA delayed the race marking for the Inland Nat until Saturday afternoon and the birds were released in Rosscarbery at 7.45am Sunday in a helping SW wind. The Randalstown team of F G & J Dickey timed their yearling Blue Pied cock at 11.17am to lofts on the Ahoghill Road to ecord velocity 2046 for the 247 miles. Other local lofts well placed included Stewart Bros and Percy Son & Murphy both lofts with the winner having good results. Many congratulations to the Dickey team from Randalstown who were best in the Cullybackey Centre and 1st MAC. John White was best in the Muckamore Centre ahead of Sam Maginty and T Patterson & Son scoring well for the local club.

Just two birds away in the Inland National and King Kenny times one at 11.38am to record velocity 2050 for the 271 miles into Bushmills to be best in the local Coleraine Centre and 1st Triangle. Well done to John Newton and Dessie Quinn on winning 1st Section out of Rosscarberry, Danny gave John a pair of young ones in 2012 they were out of a son of Colin McBride's good cock called Champion Strass one of these two young ones is the dam of this winner, good breeding always comes to the top!
