The opening race of the cross channel season was flown from Talbenny in South Wales, the NIPA with Ulster Fed and East Coast Fed birds were released at 7.30am in a Lt SW wind. Well done to D & J Campbell of Eastway who won 1st Open NIPA doing velocity 1447 just ahead of club-mate D McElhone and the Lisburn & Dist team of A T & J Houston.

The partnership of Hagan & Rowney making it now six wins from seven with last weekend's win from Talbenny. They clocked a yearling cock, a direct son of their 22nd open St Malo cock 2016. A loft clearly in form.

W & J Smyth lead the Mid Antrim Combine -

The first cross channel race of the NIPA old bird season was flown from Talbenny in South Wales last Saturday, almost 11,000 birds were liberated at 7.30am in a Lt SW wind. As usual a lot of top results none better than by W & J Smyth in the Ballymena & Dist HPS recording their two year old Blue cock at 12.01hrs to record velocity 1429 for the 220 miles to Carniny Road. It’s a first win of the year for Billy and Joe and it came at a good time, best bird locally the loft finish 1st MAC, 1st Sect B & a good 11th Open NIPA. Alan Darragh was next best with probably his best ever result in Cullybackey with the top twelve positions followed by the top two in Harryville Jimmy Rock and Roy Clements.

In the Antrim area the best local birds recorded from Talbenny were in Randalstown three quick ones for F & G & J Dickey who race to lofts on the Ahoghill Road. This loft, with Percy Son & Murphy and Stewart Bros have reached the Knock-Out stage in the MAC Champions League while Hugh Boyd v Paddy McManus of Ahoghill is a semi-final of the Old Bird Knock-out. McConville Bros are best in Crumlin (1397), Davy Jackson has his first winner in Kells & District (1388) and Secretary Glen Magill times the winner in Muckamore (1366).
