Racing put back one week - See New Rules for 2018

The NIPA was founded in 1945 and it's membership was open to all members within Northern Ireland - We are one of the largest weekly convoying organisations in the UK. Presently we have approx. 100 clubs as members, with over 2,000 members. Birds competing each week can reach 25 to 30 thousand, depending on the race. The race programme starts in Ireland down to Rosscarbery and continues through Wales & England to Penzance, and the Premier OB Nat flown from St Malo (France).

Racing put back one week - See New Rules for 2018

Post by willie reynolds »

NIPA Racing is put back one week - Start Tullamore 21st April. This decision was taken by the Race/Liberation Committee based on the welfare of the birds with little training days available due to the prolonged period of very poor weather conditions. The race programme will follow as already agreed, without change. The additional week will give all lofts the opportunity to complete their training and extra time to make application to MAC, just added were Robert Service & Son Robin.

Hopefully all clubs and members are sending back the request for their local MP to join the new All Party Group at Westminster for pigeon racing. You will be aware that an All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) has been set up to help promote and raise awareness of Pigeon Racing In addition we hope to use this group to address some of the issues we face as a sport. For example the Raptor problem. We are currently working with a Lobbying group to amend the Wildlife and Countryside Act to provide more protection for our birds. It is hoped that this will be completed by the end of 2018. In order for this to be successful we require cross party representation on the APPG. Therefore please could you encourage all your members to complete and forward the attached letter to their relevant MP asap. The amendment consists of a proposal to classify Racing Pigeons as Livestock within the Wildlife and Countryside Act. This will provide certain protection associated with Livestock. Although this will not be an answer to all our problems it will be a step in the rights direction. Your cooperation in this matter will be very much appreciated. Please do not share the content of this email via social media as this will provide those opposed to such amendments with a warning of what we are planning. This will compromise the whole process. Ian Evans Chief Executive.

As per NIPA Rule 55 the following two rules will apply for 2018

NIPA Rule 55 -The Management Committee shall have power to make and alter rules to cover any emergency. In circumstances where this is necessary any such rules will only operate to the next Annual General Meeting where they must be confirmed or deleted.

Rule 81- That no NIPA pigeons will be collected from club`s or premises that have race marked Ulster Federation pigeons.

Rule 82 - That any member of an NIPA member club who has joined the Ulster Federation in 2018 for the very first time will not be eligible to race with the NIPA in 2018.

RPRA Directive re Birdage
Posted on April 16, 2018 by fred
The RPRA have issued a directive regarding the number of birds permitted in a crate for transportation as per rule 127.

The total floor space in our crates is 949.63 sq inches

1 night in a crate all pigeons must have 44 square inches each

2 nights in a crate they must have 52 square inches each

more than 2 nights ie France 60 square inches each therefore inland no more than 21 birds per crate , on the channel 18 birds maximum per crate and France 14 birds these figures INCLUDE having your own crates during the YB season
