Talbenny - J Kirk &Sons Top The Combine

Saturday June 1st saw the EDC have an entry of some 2000 birds in Talbenny (Wales ) for the first of this year’s Cross Channel races and although we have had a tremendous spell of weather it had sparked off big thunder showers especially around the area of Wales and across the South of Ireland plus the fact that it also was misty at times so the decision was made to Holdover until Sunday morning when the birds were released on a beautiful morning into a light variable wind .

The Open winners this week are the partnership of John Kirk & Sons who race with the Ballylesson club and whose winner a blue hen recorded a velocity of 1507 also winning 1st West Section . This loft has been racing very well and this win follows on from their 2nd Open from Mallow a couple of weeks previously .

It was to the Dundrum club then for 2nd Open to the partnership of E &A Rogan who win the East Section . Dundonald’s Stephen Brown and Tom McConnell were 3rd open followed by W & L Robinson of Hillfoot with the Rooney Family of Annalong 5th open and A Cousins & sons of Hillfoot completing the top 6 .The full open and section results were:
