29/06/18 - Youngsters away and home from 14 mile stage. They are coming very well, long may it continue. We will stay at this point for 3 more tosses and then move on to the 25 mile stage. Adrian.

02/07/18 - That’s the last 14 mile toss completed. Birds came well in the brisk NE wind. Tomorrow we move into the 25 mile stage. Adrian.

03/07/18 - We have had a bad toss today. Everything was ok at release and the different groups all cleared instantly as they have been doing but obviously something has happened. The first 100 or so arrived bang on time but then they started to arrive in little groups of 5/6. When I left at 4.00pm we estimate about 70 or so still to return. More will probably return in the cool of the evening. There have been no signs of any injuries to any of the returnees.

Training is cancelled tomorrow and we will scan all the youngsters through the clock and I will update and post a returns list tomorrow evening. To say we are disappointed is an understatement and we hope all/most of the missing return. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. Adrian.

04/07/18 - When I arrived this morning at 6.00am there was another 7 waiting to get in. I stayed until 8.00am and 3 more had arrived. Matt is at the lofts now to look after things as Sean is attending a bereavement this morning. We will scan the birds later and Willie will post a Ring List later this evening which I will post into FB. I estimate 50 or so still adrift, hopefully more of your birds turn up. Adrian.

04/07/18 - We did a scan this afternoon and there is 45 missing yet. Strange thing we have not had any reported as yet. Willie is doing a download later which he will post on the NCC website and I will then post it on our FB page. Training will resume tomorrow. Adrian.

08/07/18 - Birds away and home from today’s toss. Tomorrow we move on to the 30 mile stage.

10/07/18 - Birds away and home from today’s 30 miler. Training continues tomorrow.
11/07/18 - No training today. Training will resume tomorrow.

12/07/18 - Birds away and home from today’s 30 miler. There was a nice steady head wind and they took 44 minutes approx for all groups. A returns list will be posted on both sites this evening. Training continues tomorrow.

13/07/18 - Birds away and home from today’s toss. Cleared and homed immediately. Training continues tomorrow.

14/07/18 - Another successful 30 miler today again. Full scan tomorrow and loft list will be uploaded unto both sites tomorrow evening.

16/07/18 - Youngsters made short work of today’s toss again. Training continues tomorrow.

17/07/18 - Another successful toss today again. We will do a returns list this evening.

18/07/18 - Birds away and home from today’s trainer. These youngsters know what the game is about. Lids down , half circle and straight home. Final trainer is tomorrow and I will post a returns list. These will be the youngsters going to the 1st Hotspot barring injuries. Good luck to all.

19/07/18 - Today the youngsters had their last toss in preparation for Hotspot 1. They made short work of it. We will publish a returns list tonight and these will be the youngsters going to Sunday’s Hotspot barring anything happening to any whilst exercising tomorrow. A full basket list will be posted on Sunday morning. Hotspot 1 has been very kindly sponsored by Terence McCrudden. Good luck to all and fingers crossed for a successful race.

20/07/18 - Hotspot 1 Update - Due to an adverse weather forecast we are going to postpone Hotspot 1 until the first favourable day. If the forecast changes then we can change also. We are going to train tomorrow morning. Any updates will be posted on both Sites.

21/07/18 Update - Another successful trainer today again. Unfortunately two birds have sustained broken legs. GB18C14569 and GB18C21756. Looking at forecasts it would suggest that Hotspot 1 will take place on Tuesday.

Saturday 28/07/18

Forecast is not favourable for tomorrow so we have decided to cancel Hotspot 2. We will update daily.

Sunday 29/07/18

Hotspot 2 will go ahead tomorrow from Ardee approx 90 miles. We hope to have them liberated around 9-10am. I will update as necessary.Basket list will be on both sites tomorrow morning.

Monday 30/07/18

Birds going at 9.00am. Beautiful day with a south west wind. Good luck to all competing.

Today’s Hotspot from Ardee approx 90

Miles turned out a big disappointment for us . Liberated in a brisk South Westerly breeze , we expected arrivals before the 1 1/2 hr mark . Our first arrivals were slightly behind this expectation and when only 4 arrived together I immediately thought that this was going to be a long day . My worst fears materialised with the pigeons arriving right up to dusk . 178 from 259 is the running total at the minute . Willie is going to Update tomorrow morning and again tomorrow evening . Two returnees are showing injuries associated with a raptor strike, which makes us think that this has been the cause of today’s erratic returns . One of Northern Ireland’s top fanciers ( Danny Dixon ) commented to me that it was not the condition of the birds or the weather that could be blamed .
On a brighter note we would like to congratulate our winner today Taxi Mush ( Garret Hensey ) on his victory . Also congratulations to our other prize winners . Hawk Dodgers in 3rd and 7th take the Single bird nom and the unlimited pool . His SU 18R 1004 in 7th place finished 4th last week and will undoubtably be leading the Ace Pigeon award .
