East Coast Clubs Dominate from Navan 1
The East Down Combine 2018 Young Bird season commenced on the 21st July with the opening race from Navan and as the result shows the Open positions were won mainly along the East Coast with the Cloughey , Portavogie and Donaghadee clubs having the Lion’s Share of the places with Annalong being the other club to secure some open positions . Looking around the clubs there is a vast variation in the velocities with the winning birds about on their time with velocities in the 1300’s given that the convoy was liberated into a North west wind albeit very light . The early birds appear to have come right across to the East coast of the Combine with the first 11 birds to the Cloughey lofts of Harper & Young who dominate the open also winning 14th and then 19th to 24th and 26th to 29th a total of 22 of the top open places . This is another fantastic performance from this loft and consider this there is only 5 ypm between the first and the 11th Bird
Jim and Ronnie Young (Portavogie) continue their good run and follow up their success from St Malo with several in the open result from Navan the best of which was 12th open 11th east Section .
Over in the West section pride of place goes to Barry Murray (Crossgar) followed by 3 to Jim Young & ptnrs ( Dundonald)
