Last weekend the NIPA birds were in Roscrea (145 miles) for the season’s first mass liberation. Locally 69 members had sent 1,036 birds and although the weather appeared favourable returns come close of race were very poor with many empty perches at nightfall.
One loft that appeared to relish the conditions was that of Sean McGrotty who had an excellent race with full returns. Sean has four in the result taking 1st, 5th,15th & 18th,some flying when many members failed to time an arrival. Londonderry RPS member Mickey McNaught takes 2nd spot with Mr & Mrs Paul Maxwell taking 3rd,10th & 17th. The Glen loft of Leo Flanagan & Son claims 4th position .

Last week the Derry Fed held a mid-week race from Mullingar with 45 members sending 713 birds and with a helping wind the birds covered the 100 plus miles in just 90 minutes. Maiden City fancier Frankie Ramsay takes the top two spots with two other birds in 18th & 19th position. Foyle member Anthony McCrudden has the next 3 taking 3rd, 4th & 5th.

A new name appears in the results again this week with Colin taking his 1st red card this season. Big birdage this week again but will it be so next week as reported losses are quite substantial.
