Hard test at Roscrea, W & J Smyth 1st Comb & Section
The old bird racing season had reached week three and all was going well with good races from Mullingar and Tullamore, but a very different story at the weekend from Roscrea. Birds were held over on Saturday due to severe weather conditions including very high winds. On Sunday it was dull and overcast and most lofts had under half their birds return on the day. Big winners locally were W & J Smyth from Ballymena & District who recorded velocity 1531 to finish 1st MAC, 1st Sect B & 4th Open NIPA with 18,761 birds competing. The top three in Ahoghill were also well placed, Paddy McManus, Mr & Mrs Robinson and Jimmy Smyth.

Unikon ETS Systems -
The NIPA committee have issued a ruling stating that the use of 2 loft clocks for timing of birds will NOT be permitted under any circumstances by anyone racing in the NIPA. Members and clubs should also be aware of the new Race Rule 16 added a couple of years back. The make and serial number of ETS CLUB SYSTEM’S and Clock’s must be registered with the NIPA. No unregistered system will be allowed to be used for any race flown under NIPA Rules.
Would all NIPA clubs please ensure that your 1st 4 week payment is sent with the transporter this week as Fermoy is your 4th race any clubs failing to do so will NOT have their birds collected the following week.
