One ,Two ,Three for Gordons


May 12th saw the East Down Combine birds in Mallow (Co.Cork) for the 5th race of the season and again this week the wind had a predominance of North in it being from the NNW direction which again would keep the velocities down and make for another good steady race . The birds were released at 9.30am and it was Gordon bros & sons out in front with 5 of the top Open first six places including the top three .

Some details now on the top three birds in the Open which are as follows
1st Open
the winner is a hen and from Mallow she won the following --1st East Section ,1st open ,1st nominated .
She has also previously won 10th open Tullamore 2708 birds
12th open NIPA Tullamore 19146 birds beaten by 10 loftmates
49th open Roscrea 7021 birds
273rd open Dunmanway 5272 birds.

2nd open
The cock that won 2nd open Mallow EDC on Saturday also
won 2nd section and he has won previously

3rd Open

The hen that won 3rd section 3rd open 2nd nominated. 1st 2bird club, had won 3rd in the 2 bird club from Fermoy the previous week. And prior to this she had won

At 4th open it was the Annalong partnership of John Trimble & son and this followed on from their 3rd open Thurles of a couple of weeks ago . Other lofts featuring in the open top ten from Mallow were Crossgar’s McCartan & Woodsides at 7th John Patterson at 8th and Downpatrick’s Jackie Crossan at 10th ,all lofts which have been to the fore already this season .

The East Section had the top six of the open birds with McCartan &Woodsides & John Patterson having the top two in the West section . It was another good steady race which will be good preparation for the cross channel events in a couple of weeks time . The full Open & section result and Nominated open and Section placings were:
