Eddie McGettigan got off the mark this week from Barleycove flying 256 miles with a very game wee late bred hen bred by Gary and Roy Donaldson from Portadown, This hen has been consistent all year to the loft and showed great heart getting home yesterday to win 1st Club, 1st Derry and Strabane clubs combine result and 8th Section H, very well done to Raymond and John also clocking their pigeons to take 2nd and 3rd.

Poor conditions delayed the liberation in Barleycove for the Old Bird Inland National, the NIPA released 3,464 birds at 11.45am in a West Southwest wind. Best in the Ahoghill Centre was J & M Milliken of Rasharkin who recorded velocity 1505 to top MAC and take 1st Section B, they had two other birds well placed. Alan McBride of Harryville had the best bird in town and Paddy McManus was best in Ahoghill. The winner was one of a kit of young birds bred by club-mate Jackie Steele from his Lambrechts family of birds that have won many 1sts locally.
