Racing last weekend included, NIPA in Clonmel, East Down Combine in Nenagh and Ulster Federation in Fermoy. As well as Galway One Loft race on Sunday we had a Hotspot for North Coast Classic in Coleraine to be flown from Clara, and Munster Fed will liberate in Cookstown around 8.00am. Note the NIPA race next week will be flown from Fermoy.

Last Saturday started off again with overcast conditions and steady rain, it was forecast to clear and so it did. NIPA waited until 12.15pm to release in Clonmel in a Westerly wind to get stronger at the home end. The birds got another fantastic race and most lofts had almost full returns. Locally in Mid Antrim it was a close finish with George McDowell 1st Kells & Dist doing velocity 1646 and Martin Graham 1st Ballymena & Dist doing velocity 1644. They fill the top two places in the Mid Antrim Combine where 2,329 birds were competing. Both winning birds were bred by Gerald Delaney of Oroory Hill Stud in Dromore and both lofts have won with these birds before. In the NIPA Sect B the best reported bird has been timed by Fleming Bros of Crumlin at 3.11pm flying 167 miles for velocity 1668. Their Blue cock had all races from the second week, bred in the purple a son of the double Section winner that also had 1st Open NIPA Roscrea. Up on the North Coast Robbie Callaghan & Son have the card of the day with all the top places in Coleraine Triangle, Coleraine Prem, Dervock and Bushmills. This loft have purchased the best from Belgium and weekend racing was top drawer.

The website was down on Sunday and a few club reports might be missing, sorry about that. I was shocked to hear that John Lamont had passed away, a big funeral was held in Cullybackey last Friday with many local fanciers present. Sincere condolences to his wife Wilma, two daughters and the family circle. Cullybackey Clubrooms will be open on Wednesday 26th August between 8.30 and 9.30pm to collect the club entries for Talbenny Nat. Race marking will be in Cullybackey between 4.00 and 6.30pm on Thursday 27th August.
