Area Lib (1) - 20/07/19

Post by willie reynolds »

For the start of the young bird season the NIPA as usual had a series of Area Liberations, although the plan was that there would be just two, a top lib at Mullingar and the bottom part going to Tullamore. Sect F decided to go to Navan and the far flying Sect H including Derry City going to Mullingar. Birds were released in Navan, Mullingar and Tullamore on Saturday 20th July. A large number of members were not ready for the opening race, it’s the same every season, and the numbers are not getting any better. If Area Liberations are required maybe they could start earlier helped by the organization, then the young bird race programme start on a particular date. The members are the organisation and where possible should be given all the help they need, the Committee represents the membership. We have a lot of complaints about the possibility of clashing hence the reason we were looking for just a top and bottom divide for one Area Lib each. At the weekend we had 6 separate liberations for Northern Ireland birds, last year it was 10! Were the overall returns any better?
