Another Thurles Open win for Jim Newell, Annalong

For the 7th Young Bird race of the season it was back to Thurles on the 31st August and with a Westerly wind another fast race was expected from the 11am liberation . Leading the field it was again Annalong which had the Open winner and as he had done in the Old Birds from this race point it was Jim Newell out in front .Jim has enjoyed a great season having been near the top of the open on several occasions having been 2nd open in not only the Old Bird Thurles which he won but also in both the Navan young Bird races .
Ballylessons John Kirk and sons also produced another outstanding result almost completing the double from the Thurles Young Bird races having won the top three Open places in the 1st Thurles ,this time they take 2nd,3rd & 4th Open the first two of these being together and top three in the West section . 5th Open from this 2nd Thurles was Gary Lyttle of Comber who wins 2nd East Section behind Jim Newell . The Open winning velocity was 1699 ypm the full result being:
