2020/21 Season Update -

Post by willie reynolds »

2020 Season.
Posted on April 27, 2020
The President, Officials and committee of the Irish National Flying Club acknowledges the challenges that COVID-19 presents for everyone and we hope that those in our racing pigeon community are staying safe and well and are supporting each other through these uncertain times.

The task of scheduling a potential 2020 racing season with so many unknowns will be difficult until we have further certainty. Until that time, it is unclear when racing activity may resume and what potential restrictions may be in place regarding social distancing measures.

However, when racing does resume the INFC wish to make it clear that the safety of members, race marking officials, clock station officials, convoyers, drivers and volunteers must be paramount in all decision making. The INFC is also clear that any government guidelines must be followed in full.

27th April 2020.

2020 season update 5th June.
Posted on June 5, 2020
On reviewing the current legislation it is still not possible to make plans for the 2020 season.

The current legislation in Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland prohibits large gatherings of people.

Until this legislation changes we cannot provide any further information on a 2020 race programme.

2020 Season Update 7th July.
Posted on July 7, 2020
The proposed 2020 old bird race marking scheduled dates have now passed.

With no racing having taken place due to current Covid 19 legislation restricting the number of people gathering together.

No old bird races will be rescheduled for the 2020 season.

Young bird races will be reviewed at a later date.

The current legislation still prohibits large gatherings of people and the I.N.F.C. must respect the guidance and legislation in place at this time.

On reviewing the current Covid 19 restrictions and legislation in place at the present time they prohibit gatherings of more that fifteen people. With no prospect of any change in this legislation before the end of the pigeon racing season it will not be possible to hold the two planned young bird races. The Irish National Flying Club respects this guidance and legislation and the safety of all members and their families at this time.No annual dinner will be held this year and hopefully it will be back for next season.Any members who were awarded trophies in the 2019 season please retain them until 2021. I hope all members and their families stay safe and keep well during these difficult times.

The 2020 Irish National Flying Club season was totally written off due to the Covid -19 virus, which led to restrictions on the numbers of people gathering together. With no viable options available it was disappointing for the officials, committee and members that the six planned races had to be cancelled.

The management committee have agreed and approved that no subscriptions will be due in 2021 for those who were members in 2020.

New members are most welcome and the fee is £25.00 or € 30.00 if you belong to a club and make application through your club, for any new members who are paying individually fee is £35.00 or €42.00. Application forms are on the website http://www.infc.co.uk

No Annual General Meeting can take place at present due to the restrictions in place for Covid – 19.

The annual accounts have been audited and circulated to the management committee. The accounts will not be sent out at present to members, but will be before the Annual General Meeting when one is arranged at a later date. (Any member who requires a copy of the accounts urgently please email infcpigeons@btinternet.com and we will forward them to you).

With no Annual General Meeting all officials and management committee’s will remain in place for 2021.

The 2020 proposed race programme will also remain with revised 2021 dates. This will once again be subject to any restrictions in place. Skibbereen Old Bird Tuesday 25th May, Sennen Cove Yearling Nat Wednesday 9th June, St Allouestre Kings Cup Friday 2nd July, Plougastel-Daoulas or Lamballe Friendship Nat Friday 9th July, Penzance YB Grand Nat Wednesday 1st September, Skibbereen Young Bird Saturday 18th September. The management committee plan a review of the situation in mid / end of March when hopefully they will be in a position to make informed decisions on the way forward for the 2021 season.

Please all stay safe at this very difficult time. Trevor Topping I.N.F.C. Secretary 16th January 2021.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RACE MARKING.
The health and safety of each and everyone is priority at this difficult time.
A risk assessment has been carried out by the club for the marking station and the
numbers permitted to enter the arena are restricted.
Due to these restrictions race marking will have to be carried out over a longer
period of time.
Times will be allocated for to attend the marking centre and this will be by
federations and N.I.P.A. sections. These times will be published on the web site.
The co operation of all members is requested and help to carryout race marking
would be greatly appreciated.
You may have to wait in your vehicle until directed to enter the marking arena.
Please follow instructions given at the marking station and social distancing is
important to be observed at all times. Face coverings should be worn if possible and
hand sanitizer provided used.
Once your pigeons have been race marked please leave the marking station.
It is only with your co operation and assistance that we can safely carryout race
marking.
If you or any of your household has been told to self isolate please do not attend the
marking station or clock station. Also if you have any symptoms of Covid -19 please
stay away. Thank you.
There may be delays in processing race results please be patient.
Thank you for your co operation.
