Sandyhill Pigeon Supplies Loft Report Series By Jamie Kelly
Loft report 2
McKeown & McEvoy, Dundalk

Today we have our second loft report and this weeks report is on the fantastic all round winnings loft of peter mckeown and ollie mcevoy from dundalk Ireland, peter and ollie joined in partnership way back in 1993 right up to the current year now 2020 ,and have always worked great together and enjoyed every minute of there time together racing all these years, This loft has always flew well for years now but i think its fair to say these past 4or5 years they have really upped there game especially when it comes to channell racing ,the lads race in the ecf in Ireland racing from dundalk area and there results in the ecf on the channell have been outstanding the past few years , winning 20 1st prizes in club racing last season no duplicating, and also winning 4 ecf opens in 4 years and also winning the channel average the past 4 years on the trot ,now i know alot about racing in the ecf and to to win the channell average 1 year takes some doin, but to win it 4 years in succession really is outstanding along with 4 ecf open wins really is special flying from the lads as there is alot of top top channell flyers in the ecf ,the lads best achievement to date im sure is winning the hall of fame award in the infc in 2018 with there brilliant cock pigeon that was clocked from the infc kings cup race from France in ,2015 ,2016 ,2017 ,2018 now any1 who knows irish distance racing from France will know its the mount Mount Everest of pigeon racing and there is no harder race anywere on the planet for a pigeon to fly,so to do this once takes a great pigeon, to get a pigeon to not only do it 4 times in 4 years ,but also be up amongst the leaders takes a freak of a pigeon and 1 u will see very rarely, a once in a lifetime pigeon and a wordy winner of a hall of fame award from the infc for winning, 5th open infc kings cup ,36th open infc kings cup ,116th open infc kings cup and thats not all for this amazing pigeon he also won penzance for the lads and also topped the ecf from France, now lads that is in my opinion 1 of the best ever distance cocks to race in this country well done lads super pigeon, the breeding of that great cock is from the lofts of davey black &sons northern Ireland and gerry o'Reilly & sons from dublin, so without dought this cock was bred for the job as those 2 lofts mentioned will go down in the history books for wat they have won from France, now onto the lads system, peter tells me they race the roundabout system for the old bird season and thats for land and sea ,there hens and cocks will get trained before the start of the season and then once fit and in race mode they will only get 1 road trip a week and thats on a wensday ,and they will fly around home am and pm Monday Tuesday and Thursday, now onto the feeding systems the lads get all there food and supplies from sandyhill pigeon supplies in Dublin ,the lads feed there birds on mainly versa laga superstar plus and versa laga gerry plus true out the season, the birds will get superstar at the start of the week and gerry at the end of the week ,the only other food added to this is vanrobaeys energy mix will be added on Wednesday and thursday when its for a channel race along with a few extra sunflower hearts just to add that extra bitta fats for the though fly ahead across that Irish sea ,the lads use the bag of mixed grit from sandyhill and will give this on a Monday every week, the lads race there young birds on the darkness system and feed them similer to the old birds ,now onto the health of this loft ,peter tells me he thinks canker is the most important thing to keep on top of during racing but they have a 3 week treatment plan in place with 1 free week trueout the season ,1 week it will be cocci then the next week canker then respo the next week and every now and then they will also get wormed trueout the racing season using all the sandyhill medication, peter finds this works best during racing as he said if ur birds are healthy going to the race u dont know wat they can pick up in the crate so birds get this treatment on saturday on return and sometimes sunday also ,now a little insite into the family of birds here ,the main family here are busheart pigeons that the lads got in way back in 1996 from mick lilly from hartlepool in uk ,this family is the main base trueout the loft, and in Peters words he did not know wat good pigeons were untill he got these, and they have certainly stud test of time here in this great loft ,so there u have it folks an insite into one of the best lofts in Ireland and a loft u will hear alot more about as there gettin better every year ,well done lads on a great life in pigeons together and i wish use all the success in the future, atb Jamie Kelly.
