Sandyhilly Loft Report Series Loft report 3,
Harris Bros, Bray, ISRF
By Jamie Kelly

This weeks loft report is on harris bros from bray co.wicklow Ireland, this partnership is made up of three brothers Darren, paul ,&Stephen harris ,the lads have all raced together for years now and have all been racing pigeons since a young age .the lads raced in the ecf in Ireland for years and had briliant success while racing in the ecf been former ,bude open ,penzance open and st.malo open winners in recent years while racing in the ecf ,that takes a bit of doin to win those opens in the ecf and is a great record to have for any1s standards, this loft now races in the isrf havin recently joining the isrf last season 2019 and again did not change there results as the lads had a brilliant season winning 10 first clubs in the competitive bray south end club and also topping section b isrf on 4 occasions along with 5 2nd place sections ,and those great results were enough for the lads to win the section b isrf old bird and combined averages for 2019, so great flying as there is alot of top class lofts racing in section b with upto 2000 birds going in the section some weeks ,but the icing on the cake for the lads was winning 1st isrf from yb pilmore beach from 7500 birds with there cracking blue cock ,this cock only had 5 yb races and was 4th club the week before he went on and topped the isrf for the lads ,this isrf winner is bred of a new pair of stock the lads got in last year ,the sire is a crackin blue sticker donker cock from trever scott from northern Ireland and the dam was from rod sparks from the uk ,the lads only bred 1 yb of this pair last year and it went and topped the isrf so a great start for this pair of stock for the lads ,and they were also very close to toppin it in the old bird season also been 3rd isrf only beaten by a whisker that day with there great cheq hen ,this hen won back to back skibereens in the bray south end club for the lads ,also topping section b isrf along with 2nd section b isrf and 3rd isrf skibereen 8000 birds, thats a super little hen and she was also section b isrf old bird of the year 2019 ,this hen is bred down from a cock they got of there good friend ray matthews from his national cock lines so super line of pigeon as i know this line is doin great for ray also , another great hen the lads own is there good blue hen ,this hen was 1st open ecf penzance open and then went onto to be clocked at 9.20 am from the kings cup on the second morning when there was no day birds ,and she finished 18th infc kings cup been beaten by birds flying further north in 2018 ,then last season she was also 3rd club 17th open isrf talbenny and the lads hope to try her in the kings cup again this year if it goes ahead ,now onto the system the lads race there birds on ,the old birds are split into 2 teams ,a sprint team and a channell team ,the sprint team is raced on the roundabout system and the channell team is raced on the natural system, the lads train both before the season starts and then will fly the sprint team around home a.m & pm trueout the season, and as long as there flying well they wont road train again unless they see a need two , the channell birds are trained few times and week all season ,now onto the feedin ,the lads use a few different mixes they get from sandyhill supplies in dublin ,the channel channell birds are fed as much as they want on a strong irish mix , the sprint team is fed on versa laga super diet in the early part of the week and then go onto the vanrobaeys casaert mix the later part of the week and thats the main base of the feeding the lads use trueout the season , now onto the ybs and they are raced on the darkness system and trained from about 30 mile every day trueout the yb season and are also fed the same as the sprint team mentioned above, the lads like to use sedechol and tollimon forte from Schroder a couple of times a week and find these 2 great products for the birds ,now onto the health of the birds ,the lads will treat for all the basics like canker, cocci ,worms prior to the start of racing ,then once racing starts they will give a canker treatment every few weeks and once the birds are flying well there happy enough with this ,but they will get test done if they think something is wrong . Now some info on the pigeons the lads keep, like most lofts now the lads have a mixture of different types at stock now and are always lookin for better birds ,in recent years the lads have introduced birds from Kevin & Christopher rooney from northern Ireland and rod sparks from the uk and these birds have hit the ground runnin for the lads and they have high hopes for these over coming seasons ,so there u have an insite into the loft and setup of harris bros from bray ,co.wicklow,isrf.

Well done lads and best of luck this season im sure it will be even better than ur last as ur team of pigeons would grace any loft use have them in super condition, atb Jamie Kelly PO.
