For the second young bird race it was again Area Liberations with 6 lots in all released in Mullingar and Tullamore. Weather problems delayed all liberations convoyer Paddy McNeice reported the main problem was fog with visibility down to 170 metres for most of the morning. With 3 NIPA liberations and one each for Ulster Fed and East Down Combine at Tullamore it was good work by all concerned to get all the birds released in the early afternoon. Some lofts had outstanding results, none better than Sect E where just short of 5,000 birds were liberated and E & M Curran from Armagh filled all Top 20 positions.

William McCloskey holding his 2 year old hen that he timed from St. Malo early next morning to win Amelia Earhart club. She flew this race to the loft unpaired. The sire was purchased at Sean McGrotty's bereavement sale and contains Kevin Carolan bloodlines from Coalisland. The dam was purchased from Eddie McGettigan of Strabane. William has only been in the sport for 5 years and is proud of the effort his wee warriors have put in this year.

RPRA Awards for 2020 – With a restricted old bird programme and with the Penzance birds returned to Ireland for a liberation in Fermoy the Individual Bird Performance in the various NIPA Sections will be the races from Talbenny and Bude.

Second Area Liberation for local birds -

Mullingar was the venue again for the second of the Area Liberations, mist and fog over the route delayed the liberation until 13.35hrs, released in a Lt East wind. A bit erratic for a few lofts but most birds are reported home on what was always going to be a difficult weekend. Card of the Day was produced by Danny Dixon from Dunloy, with the Top 9 places in the Mid Antrim Combine and Gary Gibson the Cullybackey winner completing the Top 10, Billy & Joe Smyth had a good card in Ballymena including timing the winner and Roy Clements tops Harryville for the second week.

The second young bird race of the season was again from Mullingar in Co. Meath. The Birds were liberated on Saturday 15th August at 1.35pm in a light east wind. Rasharkin fancier Danny Dixon had an excellent race winning the first nine positions in the Mid Antrim Combine and 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 19th and 21st Open NIPA area lib 3,876 birds. His winning blue flight hen sitting on eggs was clocked at 16.03pm for the 109 miles fly to the village of Dunloy. The sire is a brother of "Heartbreaker" while the dam a daughter of "Heartbreaker" The second bird clocked is a direct son of "Heartbreaker" paired to one of the last daughters of "Superke" Two Combine wins on the trot for the Dixon loft and his third Combine winner of the season.
