Gordon Bros & Sons win Fantastic Hat Trick

The 7th Young Bird race for the East Down Combine saw the Birds at Mallow on Saturday September 5th and with a Light West wind blowing the birds were in the air at 8.45am and the west in the wind gave the winning birds velocities in excess of 1700 ypm and again favoured the clubs on the East Coast side of the Combine in fact the first 24 birds in the Open were all to the East section and to two lofts Gordon Bros & Sons and C& H Cully with the Gordons having a fantastic race for not only did they secure 1st Open for a third race in a row but also had the top11 places in both open and section and then birds to fill 14th to 18th and 20th to 24th giving them 21 of the top 24 places in the open with further birds at 27th and 38th to 40th Open and just look at the top 11 only 4 ypm between the first and 11th ,that’s some result ,congratulation to them on a really outstanding performance ,surely a loft in top form as is that of their fellow Cloughey members Calvert & Hugh Cully who also have been enjoying a purple patch having been the next loft to the Gordons also in the last 3 races with 3rd open from the first Horse & Jockey , 4th & 5th Open in the second Horse & Jockey and 12th & 13th Open From Mallow .

The West section was won by the Dundonald partnership of Cowan & McCartney with Newtownbreda’s Tom Marshall 2nd Section and the Dundonald partnership of BCT Foulis & Gill 3rd section . The full result Open ,Section & Nominated was :
