The Irish Sth Rd Federation had 8,500 birds in Tramore Co Waterford on Wed 28th April - their first race of the season .Donnycarney racing pigeon club had 515 birds in the convoy,that were liberated at 1pm into to a cold north,north east wind,which proved a daunting task over the 90+mile course into Dublin.Following on from her fantastic proformace in 2020 Mick O Driscoll's blue hen,done the business once again,winning 1st club Donnycarney on Vel 1108 y.p.m.flying time 2hrs 29mins.This "Hereman Ceuster" stout hearted pigeon is certainly no stranger to success,as she was 1st club 13th Fed from 9000+birds 4th club 20th open 6000+birds and 1st club and way up in the fed from 9000 birds all in 2020.In brief 2nd & 5th went again to our club president Mick O Driscoll with two more "Hereman Ceuster"birds from Richard Murphy in the Uk.The O'Driscoll "Clan" had a field day,with Mick's nephew Sean,taken 3rd,4th & 6th club.Derek O Neill took our 7th slot. The Irish South Road Federation (ISRF) was formed in 1968 and currently has approximately 800 racing members/partnerships in over thirty clubs. The federation covers an area from Wicklow to Monaghan, with the majority of the members located in the Dublin region The weekly races have approx 8,000 to 14,000 birds competing in the inland races, and 2000 to 4000 approx birds competing in the six channel races. Depending on where the birds cross, they will fly between 60 and 100 miles approximately from England (the Irish Channel) and over 600 miles from France (St Malo) to Dublin. The ISRF has four 40 foot transporters with a carrying capacity of nearly 17,000 birds at 20 birds per crate. For all the latest News and Results on the Federation click here.
